Rosie's POV
December 31st 2014
Today is New Years eve. Tomorrow is a new day and a new year. A day where I can put all the bad memories from this year behind me and try my best to forget about them whilst continuing on with my life. One of those memories being Shawn. I can't cope with waking up every morning hoping he will send me a text, or drop me a call, or better yet even come and visit me because it's never gonna happen. It broke my heart leaving him and it's breaking my heart waiting on him. The best I've gotten from him in these past four and a half months I've been living in Virginia are indirect tweets which I can only hope and guess are about me.
Matt is currently in California with the rest of magcon meaning he isn't even here for New Years to take my mind off the fact that this would be my first New Years without Shawn since about five years. Tonight Austin is having a New Years party which my mom is allowing me to go to so I suppose that'll be fun but I'm closest with Matt in the group and I don't know what it's gonna be like without him.
It's 7:53pm right now and the party starts at 8:30 and I'm just finishing getting ready. I didn't decide to dress too dressy so I chose a simple maroon coloured crop top with white ripped skinny jeans and my adidas trainers. My hair was straightened and my highlight was popping and when I felt like I was ready to go I grabbed my phone and purse before leaving my room. Austins house was probably about 15 minutes round the corner from mine so it wouldn't be a very long walk.
"Mom I'm leaving now!" I shouted through the house as I jogged down the stairs.
"Okay sweetie, have fun! Text me if you want picking up!" She yelled back.
"Will do!" I called before opening the front door and leaving the house. I listened to Shawn's handwritten album ,as I was planning on deleting it tomorrow morning due to New Years, and eventually arrived at austins house to notice the party was already in full swing and music was blasting so loudly that you could hear it a mile away. I was pretty sure the whole school was here.
I squeezed past the dancing teenagers whilst looking around in hope of finding one of my friends.
"Rosie!" A voice said. I turned my head to the right and saw Maisie walking towards me.
"Hey, you look great" I complimented her. She smiled widely.
"Thanks, so do you! The others are out in the back, you coming?" She asked. I nodded and followed out to the back garden where there were just as many people. We walked right to the end of the garden where the rest of the group were, talking, laughing and drinking.
"Rosie!" They all cheered when they saw me. I smiled and said hello.
"Here have a drink" Austin said pouring some vodka into a red cup for me. I mumbled a thank you to him and stared down at the cup for a moment.
"You've never drunk before have you?" A voice said quietly in my ear. I jumped slightly and looked to see Luke smirking down at me. I flushed a red in embarrassment and shook my head no.
"No, I haven't. I wasn't exactly popular in my old school therefore I never got invited to parties like this" I admitted to him.
"Well now's a time for change Rosie, you're popular here, everyone likes you and a load of the girls wanna be you. Lighten up, let loose a little, have fun tonight and drink up" he encouraged me. I never thought of things that way. I didn't think of myself as being popular here or being liked by everyone, I just figured people here had the same opinions on me as people did back home, but clearly I was wrong. It makes sense. My best friend here is vine famous. He's Matthew Espinosa, the popular kid with thousands of social media followers, obviously every girl wants to be me.
I nodded after Luke's words and tipped my head back whilst swallowing the burning liquid down my throat. I cringed at the taste but didn't object to Jake putting more alcohol in my drink.
A few hours had passed and I'd had about 5 cups of alcohol. I felt tipsy but when I felt that I stopped the drinking and went on to water so I'm the most sober person at this party right now. 11:50 is the time, meaning 2015 is in ten minutes.
"Rosieeee, w-will you do me a, a favourrrr?" Luke slurred, sitting beside me on the grass.
"What is it?" I questioned.
"Be my New Years kiss" he stated, staring at me blankly. He had no emotion, it was like he was just staring into my soul without thinking. It was pretty weird. I shifted uncomfortably.
"Err, I don't know about that" I said breaking eye contact and looking around.
"Why not Rosie, I like you, you like me, what better way to do it on New Years?" He persuaded with a smirk.
"As a friend, Luke. I like you as a friend, nothing more. You're drunk Luke, I'm sorry, I'm not kissing you." I stated standing up. He grabbed my wrist and stood up also.
"Don't be a bitch about this Rosie" he said in a low tone. His grip was tightening around my wrist and I was starting to becoming worried. I winced in pain once his grip was unbearable and managed to snatch my hand away.
"I said, no." I told him clearly.
"Stop being a brat Rosie." He said grabbing me again. I managed to push him away and smack his chest repeatedly whilst doing so. This caught a few people's attention and made Austin, Jake, Max and Sam come over. Luke stood back and I took another step back, leaving a gap between us. Jake was stood beside me and I stood a little behind him because I was worried Luke would do something again.
"Everything okay?" Austin asked, standing in between us all.
"He's drunk. Someone deal with him" I stated bluntly.
"You okay?" Jake asked me concerned.
"Not really, I think I'm gonna go home" I said so only him, max and Sam could hear.
"I'll walk you, it's too late to walk on your own and Matt would kill us if he knew we let you." Jake said putting his jacket on. I didn't object, after what just happened with Luke I didn't want to be by myself.
"I'll get Luke home" Sam offered. Austin nodded and Max walked back to the girls. Jake and I said our goodbyes before rushing out of the door where I burst into tears.
"Rosie calm down, what happened in there?" Jake asked stopping me once we were on the pavement and hugging me.
"I-I thought he was gonna hurt me. He was drunk and wasn't thinking" I stuttered.
"It's fine, okay? He's gonna regret it a lot just don't worry now. You're okay and nothing's going to happen to you." He told me. I nodded and pulled out my phone once we started walking again. I rang Matt.
"Happy new year Rosie!" His voice shouted happily across the phone.
"What?" I questioned confused.
"It's 12:02am now, happy new year?" He questioned.
"Oh right sorry, happy new year to you too Matt" I told him softly.
"Is everything okay? You sound as if you've been crying" he asked.
"I have err, something happened between me and Luke. He's drunk. But I'm fine now, makes walking me home" I explained.
Matt ended up asking for a full story of what happened and became pretty pissed. Our call soon ended and we got to my house where I said a thank you and goodbye to Jake.
