Adventures with Jake Foushee

Getting out

It's been 4 days since the accident and jake still hasn't woken up.

They say if he doesn't wake up today... They don't think he will ever wake up.

All day I've been by his side.

"Wanna watch tv?" My dad asks

"No, I'm ok" I reply

I start to feel desperate. He won't wake up.

"Why won't he wake up" I mumble

"What's that?" My mom asks

"Why won't he wake up!" I yell

"Why won't he try!" I cry

"Oh, honey" my mom says

She comes over to me and hugs me.

"He's trying as hard as he can." She tries to reassure me.

"Honey, why don't we go and get some food" my dad says to my mom

"Alright. We'll be back" she says

They leave the room. I get in the bed with jake.

"Please, please wake up" I stutter

"Only if you give me a hug"

"JAKE!" I scream

He looks at me as if I were crazy.

"How long was I-"

I cut him off

"You were in a coma for 5 days" I say

He looks surprised.

"Well, I'm awake now." He smiles

"Could you get the nurses?" He asks

"Ya"

The nurses come in and check on him. Everything was going back to normal. Well, almost.

In a few days we got out.

"Suzzie" jake says

"Ya?"

"I'm so sorry" he says giving me a sad look.

"For what?" I ask

"For driving you, hitting the tree, getting into the accident." He says

"It's not your fault, you couldn't have stopped it." I hugged him.

I could see a tear in his eye.

"Jake I... I love you. You can't drag yourself down for this." I say looking at the ground.

"It's more of my fault, I shouldn't have asked you to drive me in the first place." I say

He hugs me

"Let's blame it on the rain, and the girl with the ratty hair." He smiles.

I smile back at him.

I get on my tippy toes and kiss his cheek.

We part our separate ways.

As I get home I go upstairs and lay on my bed.

There was a knock on my door, and laurel comes in

"Are you ok?"

I smile at her.

"Come here" I say hugging her
