{James’ POV}

She’s gone. The cryptic answer to the press about our latest project when we both know nothing certain about it yet. How she avoided looking me in the eyes the entire press con. How she insisted on having another schedule when hers was tied to mine for the months to come. And how she rushed out of the building like hell was on her heels. All of it should have clued me in. We weren’t on speaking terms because of her pregnancy scare. Well, I guess it’s not just a scare anymore what with her leaving the way she did. It was a little while when I finally found my voice; glad the bosses let it all sink in for me.

What happens now? We just renewed our contract. She’s still under contract for most of the brands she’s endorsing.
We took care of it. Miss Leigh responded, looking a little uneasy. Uhm…the past couple of days, we’ve been meeting up with the execs and we’ve cancelled all her engagements.

How long have you known?

Not long enough. Around two weeks ago, while you were in Canada, she called to inform us. Boss Vic answered.

James, we understand how hard you must be taking this. But we have more important matter to discuss-

Where. Is. She?!!!

Japan. Okay. Don’t worry, she’s all settled. Her mom and Zach went with her.

She’s pregnant isn’t she? I really didn’t need the answer to that. I know it.

James. Boss Vic sighed. Then he turned to look at Mommyger and Miss Leigh for help.

Anak, she’s almost 3 months pregnant. We don’t know exactly what happened. We just know her version of the story and we’d love to hear from you – kung ready ka na. Do you want to talk about it now? Mommyger acting all motherly.

No. My reply was short but my head’s swarming with destructive thoughts. What happens now?

Well, we’ve talked to sir Deo. The new soap will be pushing through but it will take a little while longer than expected. You might have heard about the new talent…si Ritz Azul? They’re thinking of pairing you up with her.

What? Like a love team again? I don’t want another love team. I want to be an independent actor this time. It’s what we’ve always planned anyway.

And we’re holding a press con by the way. Miss Leigh interjected.

It’s okay. I’ll do it. But come up with a speech. I will just be reading it in front of the press. And no questions. I’m going first. I stood up and left the room.
