Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Tommy.

Tommy was eight years old, and he loved everything that had to do with firefighting. He would read books, watch documentaries, and even look up ways on putting out a fire.

One day, his mother was cooking when she forgot to turn the stove off. A small fire started in the kitchen, but Tommy knew what to do in this situation. He quickly found a box of baking soda and poured it over the fire, putting it out.

His mother was thrilled, but Tommy insisted that they call the fire department just to be safe. The firemen arrived within a few minutes and were impressed by the way Tommy handled the fire. So they offered to take him to their work for a day and show him a little bit about the workforce.

An overjoyed Tommy agrees.

The rest of the day was fantastic. They let him ride in the firetruck, slide down the pole, and even turn on the hose when they went to help with an actual fire.

At the end of the day, one of the firemen tells him that their dog (dalmatian stereotype I guess) had just given birth, and let Tommy keep one of the puppies.

Tommy was ecstatic when he arrived home.

"Mom, this is it!" He exclaimed excitedly. "I know what I'm gonna be when I grow up. I'm gonna be a fireman!"

"But Tommy," his mother replies. "You're not going to grow up."

"Why not?" Tommy asks.

"You have leukemia."

This is my idea of a joke. Hope you enjoyed (or not XP).
