"You remember that weekend getaway I was talking about," Cordell asked sitting up so that he was resting against the headboard. I rubbed my eyes and nodded while yawning in the process. It was early in the morning like eight or something on a Saturday. I didn't feel like doing the same so I just stayed buried in the covers.
"What about it?" he reached over to his dresser and pulled something out of it. He then gave me a bunch of pamphlets. "What are these?"
"These are a bunch of places we could go. I went to a travel agency and the lady said these are the go to places to go right now." I looked through the places he had picked out and was surprised. I would've never thought he would be this serious about the getaway.
"Cordell these places are expensive." I looked up at him and he shrugged like it was nothing. "Money is no option, you know that." I sat up to his level so we could better discuss this. I looked through the pamphlets again trying to decide what I wanted.
"You see anything that interest you?"
I put the pamphlets down and sighed. I bit my lip trying to think. "These places are great but they are far and I don't want to leave the kids like that right now."
"My mom could take them, you know that. My mom and dad wouldn't mind keeping them for us."
"I know that but I have never left the kids like that and I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. If we went I would spend most of the time worried about the twins and if they are okay." He sighed. I knew he was getting frustrated but I wasn't ready to leave my babies yet. Soon they would be all grown up and I would barely see them.
"So what you just want to forget about the getaway completely?"
"No, but maybe we could do something not so extravagant."
"Like what?" I thought a little longer then it came to me. "Maybe we could rent a yacht. You always said you wanted to show me your boating skills and this could be the perfect way." He looked at me like he was thinking about what I said. I knew he wanted more and was excited about us going away but I needed to build up to something like that. I was hoping this would be enough for him right now.
"Just us," he finally asked breaking his deathly silence. I nodded. "Just us."
"Me and you on a yacht for a whole weekend? No kids?"
"No kids." He leaned his head up against the headboard as if he was mulling it over. He took his right hand stroked his beard dramatically like he was some big time gangster. I laughed at his actions and hit him with a pillow. "Yes or no big head." He laughed bringing me into his body.
"You know I would love to go away with you on a boat for a weekend even if you are mean. But the next time we are going to one of these places."
"Whatever you say." I reached up and kissed him on the lips. When I tried to pull away he gripped me by the waist holding me into place so I couldn't move. Just as he was about to advance his assault on my body the door burst open. And before our eyes the twins were on our bed laughing and jumping.
"Now I know you two aren't jumping on my bed," Cordell said with his dad voice in full play. They stopped jumping knowing they would be in trouble if they didn't. Instead they crawled up under us like they were one again.
"What are you two doing up on a Saturday morning? Usually I have to shake you awake."
"We're hungry mommy," Kaden said looking up at me with his big eyes. "Yea we're starving," Jaden budded in holding his stomach as if he were dying.
"Oh really?" they both nodded at the same time. I laughed at them and looked at Cordell. He nodded at me and I nodded back. "Well maybe we can help with that." We suddenly grabbed one of them and attacked them. Cordell got Kaden and begin tickling him all over and I got Jaden and started kissing him all over his face. They were screaming all over the place.
