"And I'll show you what I've been doing in the basement".

Dr Jaeger's words lingered in my memory as we all saw him off.
"Have a nice trip!", I called, excited by a new motivation."We meant what we said you know", My mom said. A deadly seriousness came over our mother's faces, it was the first time I'd ever seen them like this.
Angered by her words, Eren takes a firm grip on my hand and runs away from the house that keeps getting smaller in the distance. Looking back, I see Mikasa running after us, and my sister holding my mother's hand, looking worriedly at me.

As we turned a corner we spotted our friend Armin Arlert. A boy our age with shoulder length blonde hair with a straight fringe. He has crystal blue eyes, the same shade as the sea in my dreams. I find comfort looking into them as he reads to me and Eren about the world out side.
Pinning Armin to the wall is our neighbourhood bully leader. A rough and tumble older boy with a brain the size of a walnut. I free my hand from Eren's grasp and fall a few steps behind him.
Eren let's out a war cry and the group turn to him, ready to fight.
I fall back to Mikasa and we shift sideways into the bullies' view. At the mere sight of us they flinch and turn to run away.Scampering like rats they narrowly escape the wrath of me and Mika.
"Yeah, one look from me and they're running, I'm just that scary!". Eren praises himself for his imaginary victory.
Armin let's out a pained giggle "Well, two of you are".I lean down to Armins eye level and offer my hand to help him up.
"Are you okay Armin, they didn't hurt you did they?".
Armin looks away from me and stands up on his own.
"No, I'm okay".--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The four of us sit by the river as the sun starts to slowly go down. I stare into the muddy water running below my feet, the real ocean doesn't look like this does it?.
"Thank you for helping me", Armin broke the silence, "I guess they heard me rambling on about how humanities future lies beyond the walls".
I look to him with sympathy, "their tiny brains probably couldn't figure out what that means, they must have gotten angry because they were confused".Eren sighs "I can't believe some people would rather stay here than be free. I say screw 'em all".
"Someone will hear you", Mika bluntly states.Armin is a very understanding person, he can perceive the views of others in a way we can't, but he is always dedicated to what he believes is true.
"I understand, but it's amazing what people would change for a fleeting sense of security. And believe me it is fleeting, these walls we hide behind will not last forever. It's only a matter of time."The breeze stops. Everything falls silent. Then a crack of lightning lands outside the walls.
The impact of the strike is enough to send the four of us flying into the air before smacking back down to earth.
Screams can be heard from the street next to us, the strike obviously landed over that way.
Armin is the first to get up and run towards people's worried shouts. We all follow suit. The site that's facing us makes my heart stop.
