New Friend Levi

In my dreams I see a magical place. The beach.

The sand around my feet feels heavy, and no matter how hard I try to walk, my feet won't obey.

It pulls me in, trying to drown me in it.

Before my vision fades, I see pieces of wall Maria flying around me. And the one that lands in front of me, is the one stained with the blood of my mother.

In the distance, I see the Titan that ate Eren's mom. It's wide grin taunting me as I slip away.

And when I think it's over, a strike of yellow lighting breaks the rock, just in front of that titans feet.

Then my eyes meet the sand, and my vision is completely gone.

I jolt up from my bed, sweating and breathing heavily. The dream has never ended like that before. I hate to admit it, but it was scary.

I look out the window to my left. It's pitch black, must be the middle of the night. Although I should really sleep, I just can't bring myself to, I don't want to see that again.

Sluggishly, I roll out of my bed, earning a loud thud as I go. I decide to take a walk around the survey corp base, besides, no one had been nice enough to show me around, or introduced me to my squad yet.

My bare feet patter as I make my way around the echoey stone halls. At the end of it, is a small balcony, and someone leaning against its railings.

I try my best to stay quiet as I walk up to them, but my attempt fails as stern eyes turn to face me.

"What are you doing walking around, (L/n)? You are supposed to be asleep." He puts it bluntly.

It was hard to see his face in the dark, but I could clearly decipher who it was.
Levi.

"Oh, sorry captain, I just went for a walk because I ..." I didn't really want to tell him the real reason why. "Can't sleep."

He simply raised his eyebrow at me. "Is that so? Well then, join me for a minute, or go back to your room".

"Ah, okay". I join him at the railing, it seemed more of an order to me, I thought we were supposed to be the same rank now?

In the corner of my eye, I see his profile, illuminated by the moon. Did I mention he looked handsome before? If not then he is very handsome.

"What was it?" He said, still looking out to the landscape.

"What?"

"Your dream, what you think I couldn't tell? It's written all over your face."

"Ah, that, I've been having the same dream since I was 10 years old, but lately, it's been taking a dark turn, it only started when..."

"When what?" He turned to face me now, he looked slightly more interested, but his stern look is kinda hard read.

"... When I left".

"Your friends?"

"Yeah..."

A warmth found its way to my shoulder, I looked down to see his hand.
"It's just a dream, nothing in it can hurt you. If you miss your friends that much then think of me as your friend, I don't know what good it will do you, but since we lead the same squad, it may help you."

I've never seen him talk this much, or be this nice. It's honestly not something I expected from someone like him but I suppose it was comforting.

"Okay... thank you"

I still didn't sleep that night, but I felt more at home then I had when I first arrived. And it was all thanks to some blank faced shorty.
