"Okay, your mission supplies are packed, the schematics have been uploaded into Chase's chip, and your transport is on the way. Did I forget anything?"

"No, we'll just guess what the mission is and see how it all plays out," Bree deadpanned.

Davenport and I were preparing Adam, Bree and Chase for another mission, but I guess it hadn't occurred to me that we hadn't informed them on what the mission was.

"All right. A particle collider is a three-mile long underground facility where scientists--"

"-Race subatomic particles at each other at light speed for energy experiments," Chase cut Davenport off. Chase started giggling a little bit as he said, "So cool!"

"I know!" Davenport giggled along.

They did a little hand-shake looking thing and made a weird noise. Adam, Bree and Leo all looked at me, as if questioning my choice in boyfriends. I shrugged my shoulders. "I find the nerdiness endearing sometimes."

"There is a particle collider in Berkeley that is accelerating out of control, and your mission is to shut it down," Davenport concluded.

"Oh ho, awesome!" Adam said. He then leaned closer to his siblings and muttered, "I hope one of us knows how to do that."

"Okay. We have to act quickly," I said. We all started walking toward the computer Leo was typing at. "The scientists that operate the facility-- 'scuuuuse me--" I said as I moved Leo's computer chair over so we could get at the computer. I pulled up a simulation of the collider. "--have already evacuated the control center, and if we don't shut it down in time, it will create a massive black hole that will implode the entire planet," I ended on a "happy" note. I say that as the siblings all looked sad and slightly horrified. No pressure.

"Today?!" Leo spoke up from behind me. We all turned to him confused. "No, that's not gonna work. Today is Shelly Evans' birthday, and her mom makes the best cupcakes!" We all glared at Leo for his reasoning of interrupting us. I love her cupcakes, too, but this is serious. "I'm just sayin'. That woman doesn't skimp on the sprinkles," Leo defended himself.

Davenport put his hands on Leo's shoulders. "Don't worry, Leo, you will get your cupcakes," he assured. "Adam, Bree and Chase have all the training they need to shut the collider down."

"I don't know, Big D," Leo started as he followed us over to the main console. "I think these guys are gonna need some...back-up!" Leo struck a pose with a huge, stupid grin on his face.

"Yeah, and that's why you're gonna be 'back-up!'-" I posed mocking him. "-here in the lab with me and Davenport."

Next to us, Adam started laughing giddily. "Oh, he said 'backup' and you said 'backup.' Saying things twice makes it funny! Oh! Saying things twice makes it fun--"

"Stop it!" a very annoyed Davenport cut Adam off.

We were about to say something when a giant ball of blue, purple and red light came through the room before landing on the floor. When the light cleared, an African-American man sat in a computerized chair, buckled to the seat and had sunglasses on. It took a moment to register what happened, but we ended up screaming and hiding. Bree ducked down behind the console, Adam hopped into Chase's arms, Davenport pushed Leo behind him and held up his hands in defense. Leo in response scrambled behind me and held me in front of him for defence. Thanks.

"Nobody panic! Probably just the cable guy," Davenport said, trying to reassure us. Without taking my eyes off the man in the chair, I hit Davenport upside the head.
