I didn't know how much time has passed. I only knew it was night time by the absence of the little light that shone through the room through the crack on the ceiling.
In the distance, I could hear water droplets plummet to the ground with a light sound that echoed throughout the prison. That was the only thing that could be heard in this whole cell. That, and the grumbling of my stomach.
It's probably been two days since I've eaten now, and my stomach made sure to alert me of that fact every couple of seconds with a loud grumble of sounds.
Again, I was bored.
There was absolutely nothing to do.
The cell was large enough to walk around in, but my head protested with every step I took out of the bed. The aching went down a little, but I still was left with a bad migraine, and a everlasting dull pain that never seemed to leave.
So what exactly do you do in a situation like this?
You plan. And that's exactly what I did.
Just because I wasn't able to break free the last time, didn't mean that I wasn't going to try again. I was smart, and I was definitely going to use that to my advantage, and also my knowledge of every action movie, or horror movie I have seen that had the protagonist in the same situation that I was currently in. What do you know? These movies actually taught you a couple things.
Within the time that I was left to myself, I had managed to find out that the bed mattress contained springs, and that is now what I was using to pick the lock.
I grunted hearing the spring clink against the lock. It was taking forever to find the latch inside the lock that would click it open, and with each passing minute I grew exasperated. I was frantically looking around every couple of seconds to see if anyone was coming, and then continued to pick at the lock when the coast was clear.
I was just on the edge of giving up and throwing the stupid spring in frustration, until I heard the beautiful click of the lock.
I sat there in shock for a brief second. Finally taking in that I was free again, and then I snapped up, snaking my arm around the bar and lifting the lock off the latch.
I stood, pushing the bar door open, wincing at the hearing of it squeak from the rusty condition it was in. I looked around once again, and then I was gone.
I ran, trying to make as little noise as possible, following along the only hallway.
I stopped as soon as I saw lighting, collecting my breaths, trying to control my breathing. I wanted to remain silent, as much as I possibly could knowing that vampires had their acute sense of hearing.
When I couldn't hear my light panting, I continued forward.
For a moment I couldn't see because of the bright light. I blinked my eyes multiple times, trying to adjust to the harsh light.
I held in a breath seeing that I wasn't outside at all, instead I was now in front of a large crowd. I looked at them in fear, noting that each one was beyond beautiful, as if they each were individually pick and hand crafted to perfection. I also noted, that they were all pale.
A chill ran down my spine, knowing that there was no way that I was getting past a party full of vampires.
I watched as the girls were spun around, laughing, smiling, oblivious of the fact that I was held captive. Of what was really going on in this castle.
I looked back at them. They probably wouldn't even care if they knew. They were all vampires, all monsters.
My blood boiled.
I hated that they disregarded humans as if we were waste. I hated that ever since meeting that blue-eyed man, my life was striped from me. With a snap of my fingers, everything was gone. All because of vampires.
I grabbed a steak knife that was left at a long food table. Before I knew what I was doing, I had managed to sneak behind a scrawny male vampire that was alone. He was about my height which made this easier. I pointed the knife at the side of his neck, not wanting to have my arm around him by his mouth.
I felt him stiffen, finally noticing my threatening presence.
He didn't seem afraid by his position at all. In fact, it was the complete opposite. His lips pulled into a light smirk, as if amused by the knife at his neck.
"Funny," I heard him growl lightly, "and what do you want human?"
I held the knife closer to his neck, scared by his lack of fear, but I kept my head held high. I wasn't going to let him know that.
"I want you to get me out of here," I spoke lowly.
He bowed his head. "Of course, milady," he said mockingly, "right this way." He took a few steps forward, and I followed along, hiding behind his frame, not wanting to attract attention.
He lead us out of the ball, walking out of the door closest to us.
I felt relieved that we were alone, away from the music, away from all the vampires.
This one second of relaxation was my downfall.
Before I could react, his knocked the knife out of my grasp, hearing it make a loud clink on the floor. He held my wrist, using his speed and strength to push me against the wall.
I moaned in pain, feeling my head bang against the wall.
He smiled at my pain. I tried getting away, but he kept his grip firm around my wrist, and just grabbed my other wrist into his hand, keeping me in place.
I froze, feeling him sniff at my neck. He brushed my hair to the side with his nose, feeling his fangs scrape against my skin.
I felt a tear trickle down my cheek. "Please don't," I begged.
He chuckled, "You humans are such weaklings." He tighten his hold on my wrists, making them flare in pain. Any tighter and he was going to break the bone.
He kissed my neck, inhaling my scent. "So mouth watering." I winced, feeling him nip at my neck, licking the trail of blood that soon followed. He began sucking at the little opening, drinking as much blood as he could.
I squirmed around. pushing at his chest, his hands now pushing down the shoulder of my sleeve, tilting my head to get a better view of my neck.
I screamed, feeling him plunge his fangs into my neck. My eyes shot open at the pain, feeling my blood rushing out of me. I felt my hands fall to my side, strength escaping me, and it wasn't long before the black dots scattered around my vision again.
I let out another scream, hearing it several times weaker than the other one. "Please..." I pleaded weakly, one more time. My body sagged against him, feeling him press his chest into mine, wrapping an arm around my waist, planting his fangs deeper into my neck.
Then the pain was gone. My body began falling, but before I could hit the ground, a new set of arms held my waist. I knew who it was the second sparks exploded with his touch.
I blinked my eyes open, seeing him as a blur.
He scanned my neck, rubbing his thumb over the bite marks. I shuddered underneath his touch, delighted by the sparks creating a soothing heat. His eyebrows furrowed, and for a second, he seemed worried.
He took me into his arms gently.
I leaned my head against chest, knowing that for now, I was safe in his arms.
