...
It was dawn and I didn't get a wink of sleep last night. Tossing and turning throughout the night. Excited beyond belief that I was going to see my father again. No, I couldn't stay with him, but it was a start. Something Luka would have never granted me.
Luka...
It's been a day since I've escaped out of his tight leash, only falling victim to another pair of hands, but at least Alec was gentle. It was hard putting his past and him together, no matter how many times I tried adjusting the pieces, my mind came up blank in how Alec was that beast he told me about.
The one thing that came close is what he did to that guard, but I argued with my mind, telling myself that it was just self-defense. That I would have even have done it, if it was necessary, and it was necessary. What he did saved us. Or at least this is what I was telling myself, but I mean if he was letting me see my father, he couldn't be that bad of a man could he?
I groaned.
This is why I stayed up all night. There was so much to think about, and two weeks ago I didn't even know about all of this stuff. The curse, the supernatural, no vampires, or werewolves, or witches. Just horny college boys, and wild frat parties that I attended to occasionally with my friends.
A crunch of footsteps stopped at the entrance. I snapped my head up to see a dark shadow form behind the curtain followed by a cough. "Are you decent?"
A tug made it's way on my lips, forcing my lips into a smile. Even a laugh escaped my mouth before I could stop myself at the innocence of his question. "Yes Alec, come in." I grinned again seeing him enter the hut, lifting up the cover shyly as if he wasn't sure if he should be in here or not, but when he saw my more than contempt expression, he gave me a smile back.
"Are you excited?" His eyes seemed to smile back, and I didn't fail to see him inching closer to me either. Just by the close distance I could already feel my skin hum in delight wanting to close the last feet between us, and touch him to give me the sweet, buzzing sensation.
"Excited is an understatement," I said, not letting the smile leave my face.
"Tell me about him."
It felt nice being able to have a causal conversation with Alec. Almost as if none of this whole week had happened and nothing besides humans existed.
"He is a workaholic. He never stops working. He just keeps himself locked up all day in his office, the only noises coming from the mechanical works he is producing," I smiled, "The only conversations we had were filled of his work, and all the projects he was working on. He barely stepped out of the house, and when he did, it was for work. He loved his work, almost as much as he loved my mother."
Alec's eyebrow lifted at the mention of my mother. "What about your mother? How is she doing?"
I fiddled with the hem of my shirt, looking down to the ground as my right foot shuffled anxiously. "I like to think that she's alright up there," I whispered out, barely even hearing my own voice.
"Up there?"
"She's dead," I said, wanting to change topics.
"Oh," I watched as Alec's Adam's apple bobbed up and down at that. "I'm sorry I didn't know."
