Unedited, didn't reread again.
Sorry for the delayed update, this chapter is just a little longer and I had trouble coming up with what to write.
This chapter is just sort of a filler since I felt that I needed to give Charity some guy action, and move past this standstill she has with Alec and Luka currently, just a little little little bit.
...
I stayed by Alec's side, at ease to be alone with him at the infirmary. After my surrender to Luka, he left without another word, letting me tend to Alec's wounds. I didn't hesitate to bring him here to Max.
Max was diligent in his work. He flushed out the wound, before carefully stitching up the gash in Alec's chest with quick efficiency. Alec mostly groaned at the whole process, and I had to keep him still as he lashed out whenever Max tried to do his handy work when it contained a needle.
After Max was done with Alec, he turned his attention to my shoulder. I had managed to do basic first aid skills that I learned in the village from constant bandaging I would have to do whenever one of the hunters came back with a minor wound. The knot I had made around my chest stopped most of the blood flow, and already began to clot around the wound. Sadly, it was deep, meaning that Alec isn't the only one that was going to need stitches.
I gritted my teeth, gripping tightly onto the edges of the metal table I was sitting on whenever I felt the needle go into my skin. It helped that Max was fast in his medical skills, and occasionally I could feel a calm, milky warmness go through my body whenever Max laid his hand on my shoulder, using his witchy skills. I smiled in thanks when he finished, and he gave me a short smile in acknowledgment.
"So," Max started, lifting up an eyebrow at the sight of us, "What made you think that it was a smart idea to attack Luka?"
My jaw clenched, feeling the anger set in, repulsed and disappointed in my own self for failing, and not just that...I looked at Alec, seeing the deep crease between his eyebrows in pain. This was all my fault. If only I had stayed in the village and sticked with the plan maybe I could have avoided all of this. Now I was just trapped again, locked in Luka's grasp, and I had to drag Alec down with me. Although, I was happy that I wasn't in this alone at the same time.
"Is he okay?" I asked, disregarding his pervious question.
He paused, examining Alec's vital signs once more before nodding, "Yes, but he'll be out most likely until tomorrow morning. It's going to take some time for those wounds to heal though since they were caused by silver." Another thing that was my fault.
I nodded my head, wrapping my hand around Alec's, soothing myself with his body heat. Even when he was unconscious the sparks didn't fail in overwhelming my body. At least he'll be okay.
"I'm guessing you know the whole story now," it wasn't a question but a statement.
I turned back to look at Max. "You knew that I was Luka's beloved, and Alec's mate didn't you?"
Max sat down, and nudged me to do the same. I took the seat, and waited for Max's explanation. "It's not exactly a secret to anyone. There is things that you don't know Charity."
"What things?"
He waved me off, "I was getting there," he said sternly before proceeding, "As soon as you stepped through the border, into the supernatural world, everyone was made aware of your existence. It was part of the witch's curse."
