"Shhh, shhh" Tom interrupted me as tears started to silently drift down my cheeks he wiped them away. "No, your past is your past. You are forgiven. The only person left to forgive you is yourself, promise me that you will find a way to do so in the next week or so. I'm tired of your past hanging over your head. I'm tired of watching it tear you apart inside while you live your life as though everything is alright out here. Promise me that you will learn to forgive yourself for whatever it is you have done. That from this day forward you will be the best person you can possibly be." I nod my head but I knew that this wasn't enough of an answer. At least not for myself, and that's why I would do things from now on. I would do things because they would benefit both me and my pack.

"I will, I will be the best person I can possibly be." Tom picked me up bridal style, carried me up a set of stairs, and down several long hallways. At some point I stopped caring and just snuggled deeper into his chest since I wanted to feel his warmth engulf me. We stood in front of a door since he couldn't reach the handle. I chuckled but opened it for the both of us. The room was elegant enough with it's wooden accented wall, it's dark navy blue paint, it's white king sized bed. It was a gorgeous room yet, you knew that this was a room meant for a prince, one that was searching for something in particular. I sighed remembering the beta that he slept with wondering if she had slept in this room with him too.

As if sensing my thoughts he set me down and let me wonder. Let me come to terms with asking the question. A question that is totally inappropriate to ask when we are trying to move forward not back.

"Did you..?" My words drifted since they didn't seem to want to leave my lips.

"No, I wasn't even living here at the time it wasn't until recently that I was allowed to move in. I'm starting to make the transition to Alpha King." I sigh slightly relieved that I wouldn't have set expectations on me from the memories of a room, or worry about him thinking of her because of the way that the bed was made or something as small as that. I nod my head in understanding. He picks me up again and sets me down underneath the covers before joining me. I snuggle up next to him not wanting to let him go. Remembering the words of the people downstairs, that we were supposed to both be dead and gone now. "I'd never compare you to her you know. You wouldn't have to worry about that." I was taken aback by his words so I looked up into his eyes. They were steady and true, which calmed my nerves, and had me believing him.

I say nothing not knowing what to say, instead I reach my lips up to meet his and the sparks are there. His hands are on my hips bringing me up and onto his chest, and then he pulls away and shakes his head no. Before leaning his forehead against mine.

"I love you, and I know you. Let us wait, until the guests downstairs are gone." It was whispered yet I was happy that he remembered I was shy. Yet, why would anyone bother to walk in on us. Surely no one would be able to hear us.

"I love you too," I say kissing the tip of his nose and sliding down his body so that my head could lie on his chest. My eyes became droopy when I heard the whispered words.

"I promise to protect you with every cell in my body, every tendril of my soul, and every string of my heart. Nothing will prevent me from fulfilling that promise. I promise to make sure that you are forever well taken care of, I promise to forever put you above me. I promise that no matter what happens with my title, my lands, or my pack, you will always have yours. I will never take away your home, your family, or the only life you have ever known." My heart swelled with pride, yet I had to ask myself if I was dreaming since those were the words I had always dreamt about hearing.
