The first few months were torture watching Tom transition from being Alpha to King of the Alphas and a single father. Even though every fiber of my being was crying for me to be there next to him. For me to be Queen, to be the one watching over my child while he was in meetings I knew that I couldn't. I was just thankful that the mate to the beta of his pack seemed to create such a strong bond to the child even if I did envy it, even if I was jealous that she got to watch my child grow up everyday while I had to look on without a single movement in towards them.
Today was the day that I had told Harry to come to Tom if I hadn't sent word to him myself, today was the day that I had told Harry to swear allegiance to him. I wanted my pack to be in the hands of the man that I trusted with my life, even if my life was nothing more than a memory to them now. I knew that this was the only piece of the puzzle that was preventing me from moving on. Tom was happy with our daughter, and the packs were harmony. I was only upset that my pack had not found the peace that it had been searching for since the attack that Darryl had placed on them oh so long ago.
Tom began walking around the perimeter, when he heard a twig snap. Harry came out of the bushes and a smile spread across the two of their faces. Until realization that Harry might not know the news dawned upon Tom.
"How have you been man?" Harry asks, walking up to Tom shaking his outstretched hand as old friends would do. My other pack members hid in the bushes watching the exchange careful not to alarm the other people on border patrol.
"I've been good over the last few months, before that I wasn't doing so well." In honesty those were truths. Before the last two months he had thought about dismembering the entire monarchy and having only packs. Wanting to make himself a rogue. Giving his daughter to an alpha that he trusted so that she could one day rebuild what he dismantled. However, he thought better of it and I was grateful for his decision knowing our daughter would have to fight triple as hard; as he did for the crown that was almost denied him.
"I would like to join your royal pack." It wasn't a question, it wasn't a demand, it was a statement.
"Why?" Tom asked in complete and utter disbelief.
"Because it was one of Lucy's last requests for us, and since the attack with Alpha Darryl we have been a rogue pack. The Canadian's wouldn't accept us as she thought they would. We would like to submit to the not only the authority of an alpha but of our King once more." Harry said looking Tom in the eye with a single tear escaping his eye.
"Of course, who would I be to deny her last request?" The pack members that had been hidden behind the trees ran into the palace walls without a moment's hesitation. Yet, Harry remained.
"She didn't make it, did she?" Tom sat on the grass looking up at the clouds, looking up at me. He sometimes did this as though he could sense me and it was unnerving to say the least. "I promise you, that there was some higher plan for her and for you. I'm sure wherever she is, she's happy and waiting for your happiness." Harry walked away then as though he had said enough.
"I promise Lucy, I'm happy and unless you can bring yourself back from the dead there is nothing more for you to do." It was as though a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders and then suddenly everything was white. I was transported to a world where everything was as I had dreamed it would be, it was as though I was alive right now living in the palace with Tom.
