Chapter 16: News

Stormie washed the dishes as she watched the news. She was listening just for the noise and wasn't really paying attention, but something did catch her attention.

"Cruise ship as sunk near the Bahamas," the news reporter announced. Stormie stopped what she had been doing. What if that was their boat? Stormie thought nervously. As if right on cue, she got a call from an unknown number.

"Hello?" She asked a bit hesitantly. A man spoke with a serious tone.

"Is this Stormie Lynch?" He asked.

"This is she. May I ask who is this?" Stormie asked getting scared.

"I am Officer Karl. I called you because your children, Riker, Ross, Rocky and Rydel and five others have been in a boat crash. We have not seen them," he said. Stormie's stomach rose and did a flip flop.

"What?" She asked in disbelief.

"I am sorry," Officer Karl said with no emotion.

"No we aren't giving up. We are finding my children," Stormie said determinedly and hung up.

R5, Laura, Vanessa, Calum and Raini awoke after coming to the island. The sun was starting to rise. Laura woke up first. She laid in the sand, watching the sky.

"Laura," she heard a voice. She sat up and turned around. It was Ross. She rolled her eyes and turned back around, hugging her knees. She heard Ross sigh sadly. They stayed silent and waited for the rest to wake up.

Pretty soon everyone woke up and they all were sitting in a circle. Suddenly, Riker's stomach grumbled. He placed a hand on his stomach and chuckled.

"Who else is hungry?" He asked. Everyone raised their hand. Riker glanced at the palm tree jungle behind them. His eyes rested on Ross and Laura and he suddenly had an idea.

If I get Ross and Laura to work together, maybe they'll make up and get back together?! Riker thought. He stood up.

"Alright. I'm going to assign jobs," he said, brushing off his pants. Everyone groaned, and Riker rolled his eyes.

"Rydel and Ratliff, you go find fresh water, or something to drink," Riker told them, pointing in a different direction. They nodded their heads.

"Raini and Vanessa, start gathering stuff so we can make a shelter or something like that," he said.

"Calum and Rocky will find wood, and I will go find food. Got it?" Riker asked. Ross raised his hand.

"What about Laura and I?" Ross asked, pointing to him and Laura. Laura turned her head the other way and sighed. She knew Riker was going to pair them together.

"You two will be the lookout, so stay here," Riker told them. Laura stood up.

"No I will not work with him. I'd rather have Ratliff, can he be the lookout with me?" She asked, folding her arms.

"Laura! Come on," Ross said, standing up and facing her. Everyone sensed a fight brewing.

"You know what, I'm going to look for food. You guys will work this out," Riker said, pointing to all of them and left into the palm tree jungle.

"Come on Laura! I know you hate me but can't we work together?" Ross asked, taking a step closer to her.

"No," Laura said and she ran the other direction and sat down, watching the waves topple over each other. Ross started to walk over to her but Ratliff stopped him.

"I'll go talk to her, she'll end up mad any ways. Ross go with Rydel, I'll be the look out with her," he said sounding mature and serious. Ross nodded softly and Rydel waved to follow her. Vanessa, Raini, Rocky, and Calum went to do their own separate jobs that Riker assigned. Ratliff walked over to Laura.

"Go away Ross," Laura said, sensing someone behind her.

"Its Ratliff," he said softly, sitting next to her. Laura glanced at him and turned her head back to the sea.

"Why are you taking to me?" She asked snottily. This breakup took her hard. Ratliff looked at the sea and spoke.

"To make you feel better. Laura look, we all know that Ross is the one you truly love, so why won't you take him back? Your forgiving right?" Ratliff asked her. Laura sighed at what he had said. He was right, in some ways.

"Ratliff, it's not that easy. He broke my heart. If he really loved me, then why would he do such a thing?" Laura asked, tears forming in her eyes.

"Ross really does love you. Ever since he met you, it was all he talked about. He would always come home saying "Laura is so sweet," or "I really miss Laura," and then "I'm going to ask her out, I can't wait," Laura he does love you," Ratliff said, bringing up the memories. Laura slightly smiled at what Ross had said about her, but then it faded.

"You don't know what I'm going through. It's hard to take someone back. You have never been through that. You've only broken up with Kelly and moved on to Rydel," Laura stated. Ratliff froze.

"You-You know that I'm dating Rydel? I thought she wanted to keep it a secret," Ratliff said.

"She only told me," Laura said, picking at her nails.

"That's not the point, can you just go back to your regular self? We miss the old, happy, positive you," Ratliff told Laura, looking at her.

"Alright, but don't make me be friends with Ross for a long time, let things go naturally. I don't like it when people push me," Laura said.

Ratliff nodded. He reached his arms out and did a goofy smile. Laura laughed and hugged him.

"Thanks Ell," she thanked him.

"Anytime," Ratliff said. They walked back to their regular spot and sat down, doing their job as the look out.

Without warning, Riker emerged from the palm tree jungle, panting heavily. He caught his breath and spoke horrible words.

"Find the others, we aren't the only ones on the island."

Sorry I haven't been updating. I've been staring to hate school. I'm regretting going to school tomorrow already. I just want to stay home and write and skateboard.

So my ex-crush texted me. He's a jerk. I texted him LAST MONTH and he just replied. Ugh. But he's cuteeee so it's hard and the worst part of it, is that he looks like Riker and Ross combined! I mean like seriously! Life is so unfair. And then there's this other kid who always likes to annoy me and we are kind of like that opposites thing. He used to like me ALOT and I think he still does but idk if I like him. We're kinda like Olive and Fletcher and like if we got together everyone would be like "I did not see that coming," but my best friend and my other close friend says we should be together. And my other friend says we are her OTP. And I'm like whatever

Why am I telling you all of my teenager problemsssss👆I wish my life could be a fanfic.
