Chapter 4

24 hours before:

"Kyō hajimete, Rekishi ya shōwakusei de Kono saizu no tsūka sa remasu Chikyū." Sage turned the music up on her headphones to block out the sound of the Japanese news anchor, it's been the same thing all week, mostly all they talked about was the asteroid passing earth. "Miss kobayashi." Her bodyguard waved his hand in front of her face to gain her attention, he new better than to touch her, it's not like she needed him for a guard or the others her grandfather had shadowed her, did they really think she couldn't see them all blending in with the crowd of the airports terminal.

Sage looked sideways and up at her bodyguard "your flight to New York is about to start boarding." Getting up sage grab her suitcase and travel bag, with a quick glance she made note of all those who were closest to her and the exits.

One thing that she had learned over the course of 17 years, is that those who hated her grandfather would use any means necessary, to get to him.

To everyone who only saw the outer image he projected, he was one of the wealthiest businessmen in Japan and the world, but under all his charitable donations and goodwill, he was truly a ruthless underground drug lord.

Since the age of 4 she was groomed to become his successor, both physically and mentally, any form of weakness was a sickness to him.

This like many of her trips was to gather information on their competitors, except she had other plans like finally getting to meet her American uncle, her mothers brother. Which her grandfather kept as a secret, that would have remained as such, if she hadn't found the hidden letters and emails.

So as soon as she got to New York she would ditch these pesky guards of hers, then make her way to East Rochester, of course she figured Enzo her lead security guard wouldn't report back to her grandfather that she was missing for at least 36 hours, finding her without him knowing would be his top priority.

That would be enough time for her, then she'd call Enzo and tell him she was ok and would be back in New York City in a day or two, he'd be pissed off  but so what it's not like she cared.

She boarded the plane with Enzo following behind her, and took her seat beside a rather large man enjoying a small can of Pringles chips, while Enzo took the one across the aisle from her with a blond hair boy playing a psp.

God she hated economy flights and wished she could have used the private jet instead. But that wasn't to be, especially since she's supposed to be in France, well her grandfather along with her look alike were, her on the other hand was to fly to America, while Xibertec enterprises was attending the meeting, she would sneak into their company and hack the mainframe, gather all there latest work then leave.

Not wanting to think on what she had to do Sage buckled her seatbelt, resting back she closed her eyes. The next time she opened them they were fifteen minutes from landing.

   The International Space Station

"Would you look... look at that man isn't it a beauty."  "Honestly, Todd your idea of beauty his frightening, the size alone makes me wish it would have went somewhere else, I mean who would have thought and asteroid between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Would brake from its gravitational ring and head this way not to mention it has another one of equal size somehow attached to it."

"Oh but come now Ryan that's the beauty of it, that something of that size will only be passing earth."

Turning his chair sideways to face his ginger hair freckled face friend, Ryan spoke "Only be passing earth... you know from the sound of what your saying, it's almost like you want it to do more than that."

"Huh come now that's crazy! are you saying that I'm secretly hoping the asteroid would shift course and head directly to earth, where it crashes causing massive untold damage, killing thousands if not millions of people depending on where it hits."

I never said anything of the sort, but it's good to know where your minds at, just one more reason why I'm never turning my back on you, Ryan thought. Since the day he first met Todd the guy had always given him a rather odd feeling, through most on the station consider them friends, for him it was more like keeping and eye on Todd so he knew at all times what he was doing. But rather than answering Todd with what he was thinking, Ryan said instead "of course not, why would I think that."

The crackling of the radio had Ryan releasing a breath that he didn't know he was holding, finally he would be able to escape this unpleasant conversation without finding away to do so.

"Todd, Ryan your both needed down here.

"We're on our way" Ryan responded. Getting up he left the room leaving Todd behind, hurrying to catch up with him.
