Chaos ensued, Sage dash through the gates to her uncles backyard. Like everyone she ran, but it was too late by then, Sage had saw the others coming and now they were swarming the neighborhood. She could hear the screams of the neighbors has the spiders attacked them, hurrying she tried to find away inside, the sound of glass shattering had her looking away from the window she was trying to open.
Three spiders scale the walls of the 2 story house next door, breaking a window and crawling in one was halfway through when shots started firing, the spider shrieked and struggled to get through the window faster, the other two change directions to windows of their own. Breaking them they crawled inside unhindered, seconds later the shots cease.
Forgetting her useless attempts of getting inside her uncles house, sage run for the tool shed, please please don't be locked. The door opened with a small squeak, ducking inside she shut the door, with no locks on the inside she looked around for something heavy to put against the door, seeing something with a tarp covering it, she walked over and pulled the tarp off. It was a grill a very large one with two of its legs on wheels, with effort she lift the side without wheels rolling it towards the door.
Leaving the grill against the door, Sage looked for anything she could use has a weapon, she found a machete and a sickle, taking both she looked them over noting they were well maintained, the banging of the gate outside told her someone or something was now in the backyard. Stepping has lightly as possible she crouched in a corner away from the door. And slowed her breathing down, one thing her martial arts master always said was, panicking in dangerous situations will get you killed, you must calm yourself and analyze the position your in, for there is no problem without a solution.
So what did she really know about spiders, racking her brain she tried to remember anything she could about spiders, then again were those things really spiders they looked like them but there are no spiders known to be that large. Come on think there as to be something...yes that's it spiders could sense vibrations even the smallest amounts of it, shit what if it sensed me pushing the grill behind the door. No, no way there are way too many people running around making noises, and none of them saw me run into the tool shed, but now that I think of it, all the noises from earlier are gone.
A hit to the outside walls of the shed made It shudder and groan, has its right side bent from the force of the spiders leg punching a hole through it above her head. using the exoskeleton on its leg, it tore the hole open.
Moving its head through the opening the spider's eyes scan the confines of the tool shed, searching for any source of life. Tightly gripping the machete in her hand, sage held her breath, watching has the spider's eyes pass from one point to the next, while four of its six reflect what little light passed through the single dusty window of the tool shed.
Using its antennas to sense what it could not see, the spider's eyes looked down focusing on sage has soon has it sensed her presence. Frozen in fear, she stared into the eyes of the spider has its mouth extend, with its lips opening splitting apart like a flower in bloom.
Moving with share desperation and panic, sage thrust forward using the machete to stab the spider in one of its eyes. Shrieking in pain, the spider hoist its head back dragging the machete from sage's hand, while trying to remove its head from the opening, only to slam the handle of the machete against the torn metal of the hole, ramming it further into its eye.
Moving quickly, Sage got out the way of the spider's wild thrashing, and watches has it impaled its self further onto the machete, has spasms rocked its body, Its head fell foreword resting on the jagged pieces of torn metal.
Backing away from it, sage walked to the small window looking out to see if the noise had attracted more spiders. Sure enough more were coming over the fence from the neighbors yard, stepping away from the window sage looked for away out the shed without the spiders seeing her.
She found nothing, there was no other way out but the one she came in. Pacing back and forth she step on a squeaking floor board and stopped. Why does uncle have floor boards mixed in with metal ones. Stooping she ran her hand over the squeaky section of the floor. Finding a small rise in a part of the board, just large enough for her fingers grip, pulling it upwards she found a crawl space below.
Not knowing what could be down there had her second guessing whether she should go down or not. A heavy blow to the shed door had the grill tilting forwards, without further hesitation she jumped inside closing the trap door behind her. Well what ever was down here she'd be sure to find out soon, at least she still had the sickle.
Present moment
Looking through his window in fear Kurt couldn't believe the carnage he was seeing, as he passed half the mailman laying next to his van, his top half missing, gripping the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white. Kurt couldn't stop his imagination from running wild, with thoughts of his son out there, alone with these things. The sound of gunshots, drew his attention back from his thoughts and rising panic. Taking the next left, Kurt turned the SUV in the direction he hoped the sound was coming from.
"What are you doing?" Until she spoke, Kurt had completely forgotten Jane was in the cruiser with him. "Don't you hear the gunshots, someone's in trouble and could use our help." Kurt replied "you have got to be joking" Jane said, "we are the law Jane, or have you forgotten the oath to serve and protect."
"That oath has nothing to do with what's going on now," Kurt looked at Jane shocked to hear the words coming out her mouth, "look Kurt I know you want to be the hero to save the day, let's be realistic here we aren't trained for this, and we have nothing to deal with those things, hell we are lucky to still be alive after what happened at the park. The more Jane thought about it, the more agitated she became until she was practically shouting at Kurt for him to see her point. "Let's just call someone higher up and let them deal with this, they have the skills and weapons for this that we don't!"
"This has nothing to do with me being a hero, let me ask you this if someone else was sitting here and that was you over there that needed help, no scratch that my own son could be over there, your niece too and your gonna sprout of some chicken shit excuse, about not being trained or having the right weaponry!"
"I- didn't...w-what I mean was.." "quite I'm not done talking, listen I know your scared, heck I'm scared too but that doesn't mean we should only start caring for our selfs, how many people have you grown up knowing Jane, friends you've been to school with, and those you think of as family, if none of those means nothing to you I'll stop and you can get out, cause I'm going with or without you."
"I'm sorry, its just everything is... shaking her head, yeah I'm coming with you" slowly releasing the breath he was holding, Kurt gave Jane a nod and hoped they would make it there in time.
