Earth the beginning of the fall

Chapter 3

  Jane slammed the door to the SUV shut has Kurt did the same, has he got the Cruiser started, Jane stuck her arm out the window and fired at the charging creatures.

   The bullets hit doing next to nothing, firing at a particular one running head first towards the cruiser, Jane aimed using the SUV's lights hoping to hit its eyes. She missed, both shots to her surprise pierced the creature in its shoulder.

   Jerking from the force of the bullets the beast stumbles falling face first, causing those behind it to go sprawling to the ground as well.

   Throwing the cruiser in reverse, Kurt floored the pedal as one of the many running monsters, used the backs of the fallen to launch its self airborne, coming down to land on the SUV's rooftop.

Kurt pulled a J-turn that sent the beast tumbling off the side of the cruiser to hit the road rolling, it got backup seconds after chasing them as Kurt sped off down the road. Looking in his mirror he could see many still running after them, a gasp from his right had him glancing at Jane turned halfway around in her seat. With a breathy voice she spoke frank's name, this had Kurt glancing back at his mirrors to see what's happening.

Jane watches has frank's truck was overturned by the monsters ramming on its left side, several of them tore into the trucks metal frame, ripping it apart to grab hold of frank on the inside, both Jane and Kurt watched as he was dragged out and torn apart in a vicious feeding frenzy.

Focusing back on the road a head Kurt spoke to a shell shocked Jane, "there's nothing we could have done,"

Neither spoke after, the silence much like a tomb. The town came into view fifteen minutes later, with smoke and fire coming from several buildings, a car was wrapped around a light pole while a truck had ran straight through the front glass doors of Larry's bakery. There were over turn vehicles in the parking lot, with a fire truck lights still flashing without the sound, and water running from its hose to flood the ground of the parking lot.

The scene before Kurt had him in complete befuddled, just how did this all happened, it's Jane's tremulous voice beside him that brought him out of his thoughts. "We left Chase, w-we didn't..." cutting her off before she could go any further, Kurt said "Chase his dead Jane, and so will we, if we don't figure out what's going on and soon. I need to get my son, and you have that niece of yours, has her only remaining family, now's not the time for you to get stuck in your head. Focus on her for now, and let me deal with the rest."
