[Y/N] liked many things. She loved the simple pleasure of a wearing a hoodie or a sweater that was too big, or gazing at the nights sky as the sun set peacefully amongst the cotton clouds. Or even plainly the smell of a fresh book as she sat reading it under the nights sky.

She loved justice for those who needed it, seeing people's struggles be acknowledged and amended, she loved space the spine-numbing assumption that there was quite potentially life beyond our stars.

She adored her home town, the way all it's people were strange and wacky, the unexplainable happenings that often drove her parents to question their safety- and sanity to say the least. She loved Beach City.

But most of all she loved nature. Despite being somewhat a couch potato, [Y/N] did occasionally enjoy nature 'hikes' throughout the sanctuary a few blocks behind her house.

And today was one of those days. Slowly rising from the sofa that had quite literally taken her form due to her being sat there for so long, [Y/N] smiled to herself.

Today would be a good day.

Stretching, she slowly pulled on a large sweater with a alien head on it and words in rather obnoxious pastel blue and bubblegum pink writing; 'wish you were weird.'

Racing to the door, [Y/N] suddenly had second thoughts, she stared at her phone screen, 7:35am. She really wished she wasn't up so early, but a daily habit of being up had began to spread to her weekend routine.

Grabbing a piece of paper, she scribbled down a note entitling where she was going to be, she signed her name neatly and placed it on the fridge with a magnet.

[Y/N] was very careful and calculated, she slowly retrieved her phone from out of her pocket and text her mum for extra precautions, before pulling out some earbuds plugging them in and exiting the house.

Locking the door behind her, she breathed in a large amount of fresh air happily. She was happiest when she was alone admittedly.

'and even if the cops come calling, I'll never talk,'

Her music played serenely in her ears, filling her mind up with ideas that left as quickly as they arrived.

She set off to the woodland, she knew it so well, it was like a second home to her she adored its many secret caverns, its little streams and the wildlife that inhabited it.

The streets she knew so well highlighted the way, she followed them and hummed along to her music.

As she walked she felt something strange. As if she was being watched. As if someone's eyes were very much focused on her, in a menacing matters

Clutching her phone tightly, she stuffed her hands in her pockets and lowered her head as to not be identified and victimised.

The sky was a soft blue, the undertone a gentle orange as the sun began to rise above a sleeping town.

The air smelt fresh and crisp, but also weirdly there was a burning scent, like rubber being set alight.

Usually, [Y/N] would turn around and go investigate, but with her discomfort and her gut begging her to listen when it told her someone was watching, she continued onwards, even faster than usual.

She speedwalked for a minute before gradually slowing her pace once more, satisfied whatever was following her was gone.

That's when she heard it.
