[Y/N] felt her star-struck eyes fade to normal view as her hand cautiously wrapped around Stevens, earning an unimpressed 'tch' from an apparently powerless Yellow Zircon and an equally unimpressed face-palm from Blue Zircon.
Her whole mind was abuzz with clashing emotions, white noise filling her ears as she called out to the Crystal gems and they all raced to her voice.
One by one, -even the most apathetic of the group, Lapis- burst into tears, floods and floods of tears, but [Y/N] was lost in thought and too overwhelmed to register what was being said.
Her eyes were adverted to a certain yellow gem, who had exited the room in an apparent shame-filled attempt to avoid questioning.
"She's really sorry for what she did." Blue Zircon murmured from behind [Y/N], the only voice she could bring herself to pay attention to.
"How.. how do I know that?" [Y/N] felt the hand of suspicion climb her body and wrap its way around her throat, choking her as it entered her head.
"She wouldn't stop crying. And apologising, and beating walls up about it." The gem responded blandly and [Y/N] nodded taking another moment to admire the yellow gems beauty highlighted under the moons glare.
But [Y/N] still was not convinced, how could a gem who caused so much harm and emotional detachment be any way infatuated by her victim.
"I wouldn't lie to you."
[Y/N] took a step forward before decisively pulling back. She still had questions and queries for Blue, Yellow, despite being the thing she pined after, could wait.
Her mind was brought back to a law that [Y/N] had stealthily found herself looking up when she was scrolling through the many lists of gems, back on homeworld with the pristine technology.
Love was forbade.
"Wait." She spoke, and the air was filled with laughter and salutations from the other primary group in the room.
"Yes?" Blue spoke again, her thumbs being twiddled nervously.
It was a nasty habit she had, but [Y/N] found comfort in the familiar sight.
"What happened." [Y/N] found precious speech of Yellows floating her mind as well as the imagery of the two diamonds.
"With?"
[Y/N] felt her gut twist anxiously, she hoped her assumptions were correct. She had read a case about a pearl shattered for expressing deep rooted emotions to a superior, and reminiscing back to the time she was referred to as a 'discount pearl, if we must' it felt as if the puzzle was being pieced together slowly, and steadily.
"The pearl. Yellow said something about a pearl." [Y/N] figured this must have been a sensitive topic but she demanded an answer.
As pathetic as it seemed, the question seemed to plague [Y/N]'s thoughts, and despite being reunited with the gem who also had infested her mind, she needed an escape first.
The cold sea air blew against [Y/N]'s leg as a reminder that the door was open and the moon was still on its pedestal above the Earth, looking down at it skeptically.
"Oh." Blue looked ashamedly to the ground rubbing her thumbs more aggressively now.
"She was shattered. And almost so was I," She spoke again, her face contorting as if the verbal acceptance hurt her physically.
"- because we were in love." A simple answer, and a even more simple methodical murder.
[Y/N] felt her own heart shattering at the information, she then tilted her head to Blue Zircon for a further explanation,
