"Myra, listen to me hun. You're old enough to hear this but I don't think your mother is going to make it. So I want you to take this in a mature matter and be strong when she passes, we don't have time to grief."

"B-But daddy, she told me she was going to be alright. The doctor told her-"

"Look Myra, she said that so you wouldn't cry or worry over her. She was going to tell you but it's getting too late, but anyways when you see her next time just act normal. Okay."

"W-Would that make her happy?"

"Yes, just smile and everything will be fine."

"Okay daddy."

A week passed and Myra had gone to visit her mother again, who looked thinner and thinner in every visit.

"Mommy...why are your hands so cold and thin?"

"Don't worry about that Myra, it's only because I don't eat the vegetables they give me. That's why you should eat them or else you'll get thin like me."

"I promise to eat my vegetables! Mom if I can do it you can too, when I don't want to eat them I just imagine a burger. Maybe that would work with you too!"

"Hahahaha, Myra your are such a funny child. Maybe you are right, I'll give it a try next time okay."

"Yup, so next time I see you, you'll look normal."

At that moment the girl's mother began to violently cough and her heart beat began to speed up. The doctor rushed in as the nurse took the worried child outside.

"It's going to be okay sweetie, you're mom just needs to rest but she'll be fine. It's normal but the doctor will fix her up in no time."

"It's okay, you don't need to smile to make me feel better nor tell me that. I know you're lying so I won't cry... she's going to die soon."

"Sweetie, who told you those things? Of course your mother still has time and she'll get better."

"I'm old enough to know the truth but don't tell her, I know she'll get sad if she knows that I know of her current state."
•••••••••••
"Doctor what are we going to do? She doesn't have much time, I suggest we tell them to prepare for the worst. There's nothing we can do, it has already spread to quickly to her lungs."

"We're in difficult time now, but as said, it's time for them to prepare for the worst."

That's what Myra heard as she quietly cried outside the door. She knew she had to face reality but even for a young girl, you can't always cope with reality.
••••••••••
"Myra, sweetie. Are you alright?"

"Yes mommy, I'm just... tired, I haven't been able to sleep lately."

"Why is that? There's nothing to fear."

"I don't want to lose you."

"That's what you're worried about? Don't worry about me, just keep your head straight and overcome those obstacles. Plus, who says I'm going anywhere?"

Myra smiled widely and hugged her mother, for that moment she had forgotten the pain that burdened her heart.
••••••••••
"You told her didn't you!? Couldn't you just keep quiet for a while until I passed away! Now she's worrying and looking all gloomy!!"

"You think it's my fault!? I haven't told her anything. I only told her to be strong in case you pass, but I didn't tell her about your condition!"

"You liar!! You always have lied and you still do it in my deathbed!!"

"Don't be stupid and bring back the past!!"
