"i'll die happy tonight."
something good
i've always heard you say
"let's do something good today."
your hypocrisy just kills me
like no poison ever could.
if you wanted to do good
would you be sitting on the grass
everyday, and smoking a cigarette?
would you be staying up all night
doing nothing at all?
i know what you'd be doing.
you'd be on the rooftops
screaming your name
the world wouldn't hear you now
but it'd know someday.
you'd be painting
this blue town red
and making your starry eyed dreams
come true at night.
you'd be sitting under the starless sky
laughing, squinting
and dreaming,
making your own constellations
to light up the nights.
you'd be dreaming
cinnamon dreams and infatuation
creating your own reality
In the dark of the night.
you don't do any good this way
so don't tell me to do something good today.
because darling, we both know the truth
it's in plain sight
the best thing you can do
is do something good tonight.
