my vision was blurry

i could not see

for in this pool

there was only you and me.

i dived,

you made me leap

i floundered,

tried not to get in too deep.

the stars twinkled,

the moon was not in sight

all of today

was meant to be lived for tonight.

but love is fake

only lust is true

so if i were to break

what did i have to show you?

watery eyes

and a stripped soul,

singing lies

forevermore.

you couldn't replace

what was lost.

i couldn't accept

your love and heart.

so why waste time

when we have none?

why give in tonight

for just a bit of fun?

i had yearned all my life

and i could not stop tonight.

you would have to stay a mirage

out of reach, but in plain sight.
