Chapter 14: Hometown Competing

The next day it was competition day and Abby, Logan, Gianna and crew were all McCormick Place, where Xpressions dance was being held at and it would be in the Grand Ballroom, which is on the first level of the south building and the meeting rooms were used as dressing rooms and in one of the dressing rooms, the girls and Brandon were sitting down as Abby, Logan and Gianna were talking with some colleagues and other dancers.

The door opened and coming in was Cathy and Vivi and everyone turned their eyes towards them as they were approaching the makeup table.

"Hi." Cathy greeted as the moms continued looking at them, they were not happy at all that Cathy hadn't shown up for two days and now she was walking in like everything was good.

"Cathy, what's going on?" Melissa asked and Cathy didn't have an answer and ignored them as she started Vivi's hair, thinking that her daughter and Mackenzie were going to do the duet that Abby, Logan and Gianna had planned.

"Just to let you know, Abby and Logan had just pulled the planned duet that Mackenzie and Vivi were supposed to do today because you didn't show up for pyramid and missed the rehearsals and it hurt Mackenzie's feelings." Kelly added.

"Well, sorry about that, but, i had things to do so it's not a big deal." Cathy retorted.

"That was a couple of days ago." Christi stated.

"Look, like i've said before, i had some last minute things to do and i was unable to make it."

"Abby, Logan and Gianna have been doing the same stuff over and over again, so i'm over it and it's not affecting you." Cathy snarkily said.

"Actually, it does because we're a team and a group because at least we show up every week even though us moms have driven Abby and her son nuts." Melissa told her.

"Well if you think Abby, Logan and Gianna don't do the same thing over and over again, maybe you should get your tights and dance with your daughters because it's getting on my nerves when you say that it's a team and it's a group and Vivi not doing much during the group routines does not count, so therefore i'm not on your team!" Cathy said as the girls looked on.

"I bet you that Cathy's gonna be off the team today." Kendall whispered.

"That's likely." Paige agreed.

"Do you think Miss Abby and Logan will bring in an interim dancer to fill Vivi's Spot if they kick her and Cathy off the team?" Mackenzie asked.

"It might be looking that way." Maddie responded to her sister.

"Yep." Nia agreed.

"Those times that Vivi didn't do much as you say, the group routines have won and we know that Vivi is six, but she wasn't doing what our daughters were doing!" Melissa exclaimed.

"Why am i even debating with you all?" Cathy asked.

"We don't care what comes out of your ignorant mouth." Holly said.

"Maybe if you don't care what i have to say, maybe you need to zip it."

"Don't tell me what to do, Cathy."

"Whatever." Cathy retorted. "Despite Abby and her son pulling the duet, we're here now to support your team and that is what matters, so think about that."

Then Cathy and Vivi both left the dressing room and went to the audience, then Abby, Logan and Gianna came in a few minutes later and handed Maddie and Kendall their costumes for them to change into.

Kendall was the first to leave the changing section and she was in a asymmetrical dress that had shirred stretch mesh over the matte nylon/spandex bodice with sparkling sequin spandex waistband and stretch mesh insets with a soft tulle skirt that had curly hem which flowed gracefully from the waist and also attached were Matte nylon/spandex shorts and she had a double rhinestone headband.

Maddie came out of the changing section and she was in a ultra sparkle sequin spandex that was on the bodice of the costume, it had a mdi crop top with stretch mesh illusion neckline and metallic waistband, also she was wearing some sequin fringe mesh pants which had attached metallic shorts and there was a sequin applique for a hairpiece.

"Coming up in our elite junior soloist division we have Kendall from the Abby Lee Dance Company with People Help The People!" Kendall heard applause as she walked on to the stage and took her place on the stage. The music began and Kendall was dancing extremely well, she was nailing her moves and made sure she didn't mess up and she posed at the end and left the stage to applause.

"Up next is Maddie from the Abby Lee Dance Company with Jai Ho!" The audience applauded as Maddie came on to the stage and she stood a few feet from the middle of the stage, the music started for her solo and she began to dance to the music and she did well by doing the moves that she was taught and kept it that way, then she left when the music ended.

Later on, everyone was backstage getting ready for the group routine and while getting ready, Abby, Logan and Gianna were seeing that Brooke and Brandon were not looking happy as Kelly was doing Brooke's hair.

"Do you notice that Brooke and Brandon aren't looking happy?" Gianna told them.

"Yeah, i can tell." Logan responded to his girlfriend.

"Me too." Abby agreed, then she turned to them. "Brandon, Brooke, we don't see you connecting and you're looking somewhat miserable and you have to get over that and draw the eyes of the judges with the choreography that we've taught you. When Gianna and Logan danced, they had a connection that they never lost whenever they rehearsed or competed."

"I bet this won't be a good group dance." Chloe told the girls.

"Chlo, i have that feeling as well." Paige admitted, then they were given their costumes and they got changed into it.

Brandon was in a black metallic crewneck shirt with straight-leg pants and Maddie, Chloe, Nia, Brooke, Paige and Kendall were all in swimsuits that had some rhinestones.

"You girls look like models." Logan commented.

"That they do." Christi agreed.

"Hopefully, Brandon and Brooke get over their awkwardness and connect in theis group dance." Kelly told Diane.

"If not, Abby and Logan will be looking for a fall guy and more than likely, Brandon could be the fall guy." Diane said.

"That could be likely." Melissa warned.

"Next up in our elite junior small groups we have the Abby Lee Dance Company with On The Runway!" Brandon, Maddie, Chloe, Nia, Brooke, Paige and Kendall all came on to the stage and from the very start of the routine, it was a disaster, with Brooke and Brandon not connecting and the girls were being thrown off because of it, but they finished it at least and left the stage.

"What a disaster." Logan lamented.

"That it was." Gianna added.

"I agree." Abby agreed as Diane was telling the moms that she and Brandon were leaving.
