Chapter 1

“We’re moving?” I yelled at my mom completely shocked by her news.

“Yes, to Manhattan.” She explained. “We leave Sunday.”

I was sitting at the kitchen table, forgetting about my cheerios.

“Where am I supposed to fly?”  I asked. Yes I said fly. My mom and I are fairies and I’m not talking about Tinker Bell. We have amazing powers. There are very few of us in the world now.

“There is a forest right behind our house. You have plenty of room.” She was trying to win me over it wasn’t working.

“I don’t want to go!” I shouted.

“Oh, Vivian,” She attempted to comfort me. “It won’t be that bad.”

“What about my friends?” I asked unconvinced.

“You can visit them in the summer, when we come see your dad and your brother.”

I shrugged defeated by her determination. We were moving to Manhattan, whether I liked it or not.
