Chapter 25

When Mr. Morgenson left, Kendall and Vincent let me have it.

"Why would you agree to that? He could kidnap you." Kendall said first.

"Connor Morgenson is not a good guy. He is just using you." Vincent said in agreement.

"I know he's a bad guy. And I know he is up to something. That's why I said yes. So I could figure it out." I explained my plan to them. Vincent was on board with it.

"I'd never thought somebody like you would think of that, wow, you think you know someone but it turns out you don't." He smiled. He was completely happy with getting to the bottom of Mr. Morgenson's plans. Kendall, on the other hand, would take a lot more to convince.

"I still think this a bad idea. You could get hurt." He protested.

"I couldn't agree more." A voice came from behind us. My mom stood at the doorway. Of course she heard everything.

"But we need to find out what he is planning and this is the best way." I said, refusing to be beat.

"We could go with her." Vincent backed me up. I smiled at him. I knew I couldn't do this without him. He understood this too because he stepped forward and did all the talking.

"Cynthia, Kendall you must admit this idea is quite genius and we need to carry it out. If we went with her, then we could keep her safe." He sounded very convincing.

"Not that we need to though, she's pretty powerful on her own." He added. I looked at Kendall and my mom. They knew that they'd lost. Especially since Vincent mentioned I could defend myself on my own.

"Okay, we’ll go with your plan." My mom gave in. Kendall didn't look convinced, but he nodded anyway.

"It's all set then." I said. I was happy to win this argument. I turned to Vincent. "Thank you." I whispered. He gave me a quick nod and left.

The next few days went by fast, soon it was Saturday morning. Mr. Morgenson had arrived. Kendall and I would ride with him. My mom and Vincent would follow behind. We got into a black car. Kendall and I sat in the back. I glanced at Kendall, he looked as if was ready to attack at any given moment. We pulled up to a skyscraper. It looked like it was completely made of glass. Mr. Morgenson opened the door and let us out. We waited for others to join us.

"Right this way." Directed Mr. Morgenson. We followed closely behind. My mom looked tense. So did Kendall. Vincent looked calm and ready for anything. We were led into an elevator and went to the top floor. When we got there, he hurried us into a big room. It was full of people. They saw us and stood.

"Vivian Donaldson?" A man called my name.

"Yes, that's me." I responded. We started for our chairs, when Vincent whispered in my ear. "Leave them wanting more, brown eyes. I know you can." I nodded and sat down. Vincent sat down next to my mom. He looked at her warmly. Was there something going on with them? My mom was beautiful, but was Vincent into her.

"Miss Donaldson, will you display your powers for us?" A women asked. She had short blonde hair and looked about thirty.

"Sure." I said. Before I could ask them how, a women stumbles into the room. Her arm was covered in blood. Her face was streaked with fear. She was human. Did they do this too her? Anger rose in my chest. I walked over and healed the woman. She gasped when her skin glowed.

"Thank you." She said, gratefully and ran out of the room. The room started applauding, but I was to angry to notice. They hurt an innocent person for an experiment. I looked at them. I didn't have time to wonder if I could control the minds of more than one person at once. I just did it. I pictured all their minds together. Then I pictured the room falling apart. Papers flew across the room. The table shook. And the ceiling cracked. People started screaming and then I opened my eyes. Everyone looked around. The papers and the table were exactly in place. The ceiling hadn't been touched. I took my seat, I glanced at Kendall, my mom, and Vincent. Kendall and my mom looked worried. Vincent was smiling. He gave me a thumbs up for getting these people's attention.

"That was amazing." A man said.

"Spectacular." Agreed the short haired woman. They started whispering.

"Why'd you get so angry?" Someone asked.

"You hurt the woman. She was human." I explained. Their eyes were on me. Then I noticed the room was full of fairies and humans. They looked confused.

"Some of you are human also." I stated.

"Yes, but if you're insinuating we hurt her because she is human, you are wrong. She just isn't important." An older woman said.

"You brought her here and hurt her for me?" I glanced at Mr. Morgenson. A guilty look crossed his face. He knew. I looked at my mom, Vincent, and Kendall. They were just as disgusted as me.

"Come on, we're leaving." I said. They nodded and stood as if they've been wanting to get out of here the whole time.

"Miss Donaldson, we could really use your powers." Said a man with grey hair.

"Like you used that girl. No thanks." I refused. On our way out, I noticed a room that was full of shelves and files. I still didn't know what they were up to.

"You guys, I'm going to use the bathroom." I lied.

"We'll see you in the car." My mom said as Vincent took her hand. They went to the door, holding hands. Kendall reluctantly followed, not wanting to leave me alone.

Finally, he was out the door. I rushed into the room and started searching through the files. I didn't think much until I saw Cynthia Donaldson on one. They had a file on my mom. I opened it. Inside it was her biography. That she was a fairy and her power. I pushed her file into my bag. Next I came across a file with Kendall Sparks on it. I placed it with my mom's file. I did the same with Vincent's, my dad's, and my brother's. That's when I came across mine. It said confidential on the front. It was bigger than the others. I looked inside. It said my full name. Vivian Hope Donaldson.  That I'm a fairy and under my power it said. Unknown.  I closed it and put it in my bag. I started running to the car. When I got there my mom was in the front, Kendall and Vincent in the back.

"We have to get out of here." I snapped. I was barely in my seat.

"Vivian what's-"

"Go now." I shouted. My hands were shaking. I sat on them to hide how freaked out I was. She hit the gas and we drove home.
