Chapter 6
When I woke up, I got dressed and went to school. I went through the day talking to Diana and her friends.
“So I heard your tutor is Kendall Sparks. He is so cute.” One of her friends said. I think her name was Janice.
“How did you know that?’ I asked.
“News travels fast here.” Diana told me. She has helped a lot to get to know this school. She showed me the classes, told me where to sit, and who to stay away from.
At three o’clock I waited in the cafeteria for Kendall. He came up to the table wearing a blue V-neck and jeans.
“Hey Viv, what homework do we have to do,” I ignored the nickname, pushing the books towards him.
“Chemistry, Algebra, and English,” I replied.
We worked for about an hour when it was all done. I closed the books and shoved them in my bag.
“It’s really nice of you to do this.” I tried for a conversation, looking in his blue eyes.
“I usually tutor the new students. But not all of them are as pretty as you.” My jaw dropped. Was he flirting with me?
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable.” He did his best to look genuine.
“I have to go.” I said trying to avoid this conversation. I grabbed my bag and went to the back of the school. Taking out my wings, I flew home. I looked back once and thought I saw Kendall. Maybe I was seeing things. Or maybe he saw everything.
Kendall walked into the dark house and was greeted by Vincent, his long-time-best-friend.
“Have you met her?” Vincent stared, waiting for an answer.
“Yes, the plan is working out perfectly.” Kendall looked away. There was a look in his eyes. Not anger, not anticipation, but guilt. Did she really deserve this?
