Chapter 11
It was Friday night and I was staring at my open closet, trying to decide what to wear. Kendall convinced me of this date and I had no idea what to wear. He was taking me to a movie. Why was I trying so hard for him? I wasn’t even sure if I trusted him yet. I pulled a red sweatshirt and a pair of black skinny jeans out of my closet. I heard a knock at the door. Here we go. I sighed, walking downstairs to answer it.
When I opened it Kendall was there. “Hey Viv, you look great.” He complimented me. I smiled and thanked him. The room filled with silence.
“Let’s hope you can prove you’re trustworthy tonight.” I announced. I could tell he expected I would say that.
“I’ll do anything to prove to you that you can trust me.” With that we went to his car. After a few minutes of silence, I asked to turn on the radio. He nodded, pushing it on and I picked a station. We like the same music so it wasn’t hard to agree on one.
“I’m sorry I broke your trust.” He said through the silence. I was about to say we never really had trust since we just met. But I actually did trust him at least before. He gave you a vibe that let you know he was safe to be around unlike Vincent whom I couldn’t wait to get away from.
“I’m sure you can earn it back.” I said after a long beat. We got to the movies and he told me to pick one. Looking at the I choices picked a comedy, Elf. We paid for our tickets and walked in. The theatre was completely empty. This made me nervous. Kendall picked up on my emotions and gave me a smile. “Don’t worry, you’re safe.” I sat down next to him and the lights went off. While waiting for the movie to start, I heard a voice from behind us. “I thought I would find you two here.”
