I had been in the apartment for a day, not hearing from Andy and Ashley. I didn't want to leave in case Ashley came back or Andy left his room for even a split second. Every night that passed I dreamt of Ashley forgetting his wallet and coming back just so I could see his face or smell his sweet cologne one more time before he left again.

In the day I lay on the sofa, buried in blankets and food wrappers, watching old episodes of Carrie Bradshaw's adventures in new york with her friends. At night I slept in the same place, cuddling the sofa cushions close and pretending they were Andy.

Oh my god. I pretended it was Andy! I immediately turned off the TV as the thought raced around in my mind. I threw all the blankets and empty bottles of beer on the floor and raced to Andy's room. I pounded on the door, screaming his name which felt like forever. He swung the door open, in his grey tracksuits, the waistband of his Calvin's showing. His hair was a mess and so was the bags under his eyes.

"What?" He slurred, his tall figure casting large black shadows from his bedroom light. I didn't say a word, instead, I just slammed my body against his and embraced him. As my ear pressed tighter and closer to the soft beating of his heart his arms snaked around me and joined me in a comforting embrace. His chin was gently rested on the top of my head. I could feel myself crying, however, I didn't let go. Andy just held me tighter.

"Thank you," I stuttered, pulling away from the warmest man I know.

"Don't thank me," Andy looked down with the same loving eyes that have been there since I can remember, ever since the first time I cried in front of him. Those big, blue, doughy iris' that have loved me the same way ever since I met him. "I love you so much and I will always be-"

"Skip the soppy shit and kiss me you animal," I smirked, grasping his cheeks and pulling his face in close to mine. Our lips interlocked and it felt like the earth stopped turning, everything around us froze, time stopped and I felt happy once again. Andy pulled back with a look of panic and shock spread across his face.

"What... was that?" His deep voice stumbled.

"I have no idea," a sudden wave of confusion and dread drowned me.

"Let's forget about that, now, show me that ring, I never got to really see it." Andy grinned, rubbing my arm as a sign of friendly reassurance. It only took a simple glance from the corner of my eye to notice Ashley had taken the ring. Either as he left or he snuck back into the apartment, all I knew is that was the first sign he was gone.

I felt nothing, completely numb from head to toe. All I could feel was a warm stream of silent tears slowly rolling down my cheeks. It was almost like the sound of my heartbreak could have been heard for miles. Andy immediately encased me in his arms.

"He isn't coming back..."I whispered,

"Don't you ever say that! He wouldn't quit on you like that," Andy grinned, I knew there was truth in his words but something deep inside kept telling me that Ashley was gone.
