Johnny's POV
I sat in the office of the car wash. I looked at the paper in my hands. I can't believe it.
"I got in! I got in, holy crap," I mumbled in disbelief.
I got into my dream school, NYU. Now I just have to tell my family. Mostly my father.
"John! What are you doing?" My dad asked.
I hid the letter and turned around and saw my dad walking through the door. He gives me a look and sits next to me.
"What is this John?" Dad asked.
He picks up the letter and reads it. I can't think of anything to say.
"John, are you trying to change your future? We've had this planned since you were nine years old," Dad explained. "You're going to university of Pittsburgh and going to play there."
I sighed and looked at him. I need to tell him now I guess.
"Dad, I don't want to do the plan," I say.
"What do you mean son?" Dad asked.
"I don't want to be a lawyer or work here until I become a lawyer," I say.
My dad looks heart broken I'm not following in his footsteps. He wanted the car wash to be passed on through generations. This was my grandfathers, now it's his.
The lawyer part, well, that's what both my parents do. They're both lawyers when they're not at the car wash.
"Dad?"
"We'll talk about this later John," dad said standing up and leaving.
I heard the door open again. I turn and see my sisters Lauren and Darian.
"What happened with dad?" Darian asked.
They both sit next to me and I show them the letter.
"I was going to ask if you got in too, because I did," Lauren said showing me her acceptance letter.
"Well, dad's mad because I don't want to stick with the plan. I don't want to play football for University of Pittsburgh," I explained.
"John, you're the only son he has. Obviously he's upset. Have you told him what you want to do?" Darian asked.
I shake my head no. "That'll be later at the house. So both mom and dad can be yelling at me."
Darian shook her head, "John, mom won't be as upset as dad. But, still be careful when you tell them."
"Ya John, dad's going to be pissed when he finds out you want to be a music producer," Lauren nodded.
"Ya I know. I don't know how I'm going to tell them though," I sighed.
Both my sisters stood up and patted my back, "you'll figure it out," Darian reassured.
"Oh! Maddie's coming for dinner tonight," Lauren said as they walked out.
I sighed and laid back in the chair. Knowing this was going to be a long day.
