Chapter 9

A few weeks passed since I got back from Los Angeles. One day my mom got a call from the director of the film 'Richie Rich'...

"Karla." My mom entered my room with a weird expression on her face.

"What?" I asked her looking up from a book that I was reading.

"I'm so sorry." She told me and I looked her with confusion on my face. "You didn't get the role." I was disappointed. I really worked hard to get it.

"Why?" I whispered to myself.

"Don't worry. You can't get every role. The director explained me that they need a ginger girl that seemed younger. They offered you other roles."

My eyes lit up. Maybe this wasn't bad at all.

"They want you for another movie. It's called 'Casper'. Your manager told me that you are perfect for the lead role."

A huge smile appeared on my face. A lead role, that was fantastic!

"And they want you to star in another movie." She sighed and laughed. "You are getting more famous, Karla."

I stared at her in awe. I was so happy, but I will be so busy at the same time.

I couldn't share my happiness with Brian and the rest of the boys, because they had gone performing in different places around Florida. Charity performances, restaurant performances and other places that Brian told me about. I was all alone in my house, well with my mom and dad. Just another boring summer for me.

One day we got a call from my manager saying that he talked to River Phoenix's manager and he invited us to 'The Thing Called Love' premiere on 27th August. Me and my mom decided to buy a dress for that occasion.

I bought a black dress and black ballerinas that matched perfectly. To add a bit of touch to the final look me and my mom found a nice ribbon for my hair.

"Perfect." My mom said and smiled at me as I put on the outfit at home.

The bright light of the cameras taking photos was all around me and the other stars. I was walking on the red carpet alongside River Phoenix. It was the day of his movie premiere and I was so excited. Some people were interviewing me.

"I heard that you have an upcoming movie coming out this year. It's called "Addams Family Values", right?" A woman with blonde hair asked me as she held a microphone in front of me. There was a camera man next to her.

"Yes." I replied smiling.

There were more people who interviewed me and asked me a lot of questions.

Finally we got to the movie theater and the movie began. River Phoenix was amazing as always. He's such a professional and good actor. I hope that someday I will be as good as he is.

When the movie had finished everyone started clapping. I'm not gonna lie, it was very well done.

I was so tired so me and my mum decided to go back to our hotel. We were in LA, again, for the premiere and in the same hotel as always. We said our goodbyes to everyone and left with my bodyguard.

My summer was pretty boring. It was so quiet in our house without Brian and the boys.

"Karla!" My mom shouted one day.

"What?" I yelled back.

"Come here!" She said and I did what she told me to. I walked down the stairs and saw that my mom was holding something in her hand. "It's for you." She smiled as I took a white envelope.

"Someone sent me something by mail?" I asked with a weird expression on my face.

"It looks like it." My mom replied and went back into the living room. I looked at the envelope and walked back upstairs into my room.

'To Karla Littrell' - said on it. I slowly opened it and saw a little note first.

'Hey Karla,
It's Brian! You are probably wondering why I'm sending you this instead of calling you. Well, I thought it would be fun.
Hugs,
Brian, AJ, Kevin, Howie and Nick'

I started laughing as I read the letter. I was really surprised that Brian sent me a letter. There was something else there. I took it out and realized that it was a photo. A photo of all the boys showing the tongues to the camera.

I started laughing even more as I stared at the photo. I took some tape and stuck the photo to the inner part of my wardrobe.
