Me and Nick returned back to our neighborhood. We walked through the small forest in silence.

"Hey, Nick?" I started talking.

"Yeah?"

"Thank you for being such a good friend." I said smiling at him.

"Well, that's what friends do, don't they?" He chuckled and smiled warmly. "Friends support each other."

"Yeah." I replied still with a small smile on my face. "Well, I'm gonna go now. Thanks for everything."

"Okay, you can always count on me." He grinned and I turned around to face my house.

I entered and heard my parents arguing. They were screaming so loud that they even didn't hear me come in. I walked upstairs to my room and called Amanda.

"Hey Amy." I said.

"Oh hi Karla. What's up?"

"Remember that Mercedes? The one that my father bought?"

"Yeah. What about it?"

"Well, my dad bout it with my money."

"What?" Amanda sounded shocked. "How? Why?"

"Oh I don't know. My father just thinks that I'm a money machine. He used me for the past few weeks for money. He has bough a lot of experience stuff without me knowing it!" I said rather pissed off than sad.

"That's so fucked up..." She said still a bit shocked.

"Today I heard my parents arguing about it... My father left work and is being lazy while I'm working for our whole family."

"Karla, isn't that some sort of child abuse or something?" She asked me slowly. "That's kind of illegal..."

"I don't know. Probably." I sighed. Amanda was right. "But my father doesn't seem to give a shit about it. He has changed a lot, I don't know why."

"Maybe because you started acting in more movies and you became more famous?"

"Maybe..." I replied thinking about it. It was true. My face costed money, as weird as it sounds.

"So, let's talk about something different." She said in a more happy voice. I guess she was trying to cheer me up and make me forget about the whole money drama. "How is Nick?"

How didn't I see this coming...

"You won't stop asking, will you?"

"Nope." She giggled. "You better be on good terms with him."

"Why would I be on bad terms with Nick?" I asked confused.

"Just asking." She said as if nothing had happened. "Did something between you two happen?"

"How many times do I have to tell you that he doesn't like me back?"

"You can't prove it."

"It is obvious, Amy." I sighed.

"It is obvious that he likes you. God you're so stubborn, Karla."

"Talking 'bout yourself, huh?" I chuckled.

"Look, I'm gonna come over this weekend and I'm gonna show you that he likes you back."

"Wait, what? No!" I protested. If Amanda did that I would be so embarrassed. I don't even know what does she want to do to prove that Nick likes me.

"So stop being stubborn and just ask him!"

"Are you nuts? I'm not gonna do that!"

"So I will."

"No!" God, having a best friend like Amanda was a struggle sometimes...

We talked for a few more minutes and I convinced her not to do anything about me and Nick.

'Where the hell is Brian?' I asked myself while I was going down the stairs. I really didn't want to see my parents right now, but I was hungry. Food always wins, you know.

"Karla..." my mom started. "Dad didn't mean all that."

"Yeah right." I replied and didn't even bother to look at her.

"Why did you leave the house? We were so worried!"

"First of all," I started and looked at her. "We? Dad just proved that he doesn't care about me, he cares about the money I make. Second of all, I don't wanna be inside the same house with him anymore." I confessed.

"But, Karla, you can't just leave our house? Where would you go? It's illegal."

"Like leaving work and letting your daughter to make all the money." I said and left the kitchen.

---

"Brian where the hell are you?" I asked my brother when I called him.

"In Samantha's house. Why?"

"Ugh nothing. I don't wanna spoil your great time with your girlfriend." I said thinking of Nick.

"Why are you so pissed?"

"I am not pissed."

"You are, Karla."

"This is not a thing to discuss on the phone." I said and Brian sighed.

"Okay, we'll talk when I come back." He hung up and I looked through the window. The sun was setting behind some houses in the distance. The sky was pink mixed with purple. If you looked up you could see some little twinkling stars. This view was beautiful, but I knew it wouldn't last forever.
