Chapter 8

I sighed deeply before entering to the audition room. I looked back and saw Mac holding his thumbs up and smiling at me. There were a few more girls my age that were auditioning for the part. Now, it was my turn to show them what I'm able to do. Everything was about to happen in this room right in front of me. I opened the door and entered with confidence.

"How did it go?" Asked me Mac when I exited the room with a big smile on my face.

"Pretty well, I guess." I replied and sat on the chair next to him. My mom hugged me, she could tell by my face that I did a pretty nice job.

A bit later it was Macaulay's turn and I cheered him up and hugged him. He exited the room with the same victory smile on his face.

Charlie's friend drove us to the hotel. It was a nice summer afternoon. Me and Mac decided to go swimming again but one person in the lobby took my attention. I was standing there as if I were frozen. My eyes were wide open so was my mouth. Mac was just staring at me with confusion on his face.

"Karla?" He started waving his hands in front of my face. I quickly grabbed them and whispered to him:

"That's River Phoenix!" I whisper yelled as a smile grew on my face. I was a big fan of River Phoenix and to see him in the hotel I was staying in was a big surprise. My mom entered the lobby and approached us.

"Mom!" I whisper yelled again. "That's River Phoenix!" I pointed at him with my finger.

"Oh!" She smiled. "You can go and say hi." The truth is that even if I wanted to say 'hi' to River so bad I was nervous to go and talk to him.

"Oh come on! Don't be shy." My mom laughed. "We'll go with you." She pointed at Mac.

We approached River Phoenix and my mom spoke up:

"Excuse me. My daughter is a very big fan of yours and she's wondering if she could get an autograph." River looked at us and smiled.

"Oh, sure!" He replied. "You must be Karla Littrell and Macaulay Culkin?" He asked us. He knows us?!

"Yeah." Replied Mac.

"You know us?" I asked him.

"Of course I do! I love 'Home Alone' and 'The Addams Family'!"

"Wow." I whispered. I found a piece of paper and took a pen from the reception. River Phoenix gave me his autograph! And he did something that really shocked me and Macaulay. He asked us for autographs.

We talked a bit and then we got back to our rooms. I can't believe that I just talked to one of my favorite actors!
