Ms. Potts and chip are such lovely people. Well half people? Ms. Potts loves to sit with me and talk while chip plays around the table or in the library. Today we sit in the library, chip is showing off his "tricks" with his saucer.
"Be careful chip, your gonna break something." Ms.potts scalds beside me. "I will mom." He calls sliding across the table past Adam hunched over another book.
"Let him live. He'll be fine Ms.Potts." I smile sipping a cup of lemon tea gingerly. Adam looks up as Lumière walks in with a smile on his face. "Bonjour madam's and master." He cheerfully climbs up on to ms.Potts tea cart to stand beside us watching chip.
"Bonjour Lumière." I smile setting my tea down. "Deary, pardon me. Have you finished that dress you've been working so hard on? I would love to see it." I smile figuring with the fabric of my night pants. I've gotten comfortable simply wearing them around the castle instead of dresses and corsets.
"I did. I started to work on a new pair of pants too. I'll show you some time. Before I go to shopping today." I suggest glancing to the beautiful table clock across the room, it's almost two. "Oh no. Don't you worry yourself going all the way to Paris, you won't make it back before dark. Perhaps you can help me pick some vegetables instead, make a nice stew." Ms. Potts suggests, I nod.
"Adam." He looks up from his book quickly a slight smile playing his lips. "Will you help us? In the garden later, help us pick some vegetables for dinner?" He scoffs at first. "That's servant-" I give him a look and he shakes his head quickly. "Ah- yes. Of course." He quickly says before looking down at his book again.
I laugh rising from my chair to the ladder to find a cookbook. I reach out for the book, it's farther than I thought it was. Oops. I feel my balance slip slightly until warm hands wrap around my waist grazing the skin between my top and bottoms. I grab the book and shiver feeling adam's paws leave my skin. "Thanks." I smile stepping down off the ladder.
I catch Lumière and ms. Potts smiling to themselves. I shake my head walking towards the door. Adam closes his book. "Lumière, continue to look for anything that might help us. Anything." Adam tells him before following me. Ms. Potts follows as well.
I scoop chip up off the floor, he laughs turning to watch where we go in my palms. "Océana! Let's run! Come play!" He jumps from my palms sliding down the hall on his little saucer. "Oh chip, I wish I could. I can't run anymore bud." I pull up my pant leg showing him the metal cage around my knee. He looks at it questionably. "What happened?" He asks stopping at my feet. "Now chip! That's rude." Ms. Potts scolds. "No, no. It's alright. I was playing when I wasn't supposed to be, I wasn't listening to my papa and I got hurt. So you should listen to your mama do you don't get hurt." I tell him rolling down my pant leg. He nods. "Alright." He then races off again yelling in jubilation as he goes.
"Kids." Adam hums with a smile. Adam reaches over to the stand by the door pulling my fuzzy fur and velvet cloak. "Thank you." I smile taking it from him. I give Ms. Potts the cookbook. "You two take your time. I'll start preparing in the kitchen." She tells us wheeling away.
The cold air sweeps under my cloak as Adam an I step outside. I shiver tugging the sides closer. "It's getting colder." I remark walking down the stairs cautiously. Florence has tucked himself into the alcove to shelter from the elements. "Oh buddy." I brush his snout. "Can we put him somewhere warmer?" Adam nods. "Bring him this way, there is an indoor stables." Adam leads us to an archway nestled into a dark corner of the castle.
Inside lit by torches is a long cobblestone tunnel with large wooden half doors all the way down. Adam gently takes Florence reins from my hand and guides Florence into the first stall and closes the door.
"Thank you." I smile walking out into the glass garden. "Anything you want. Remember?" I smile. "Of course." Adam picks up a bucket and dusts off the snow. "For what we pick." He explains shyly.
I bend down at the first stretch of lush garden, carrots sprout in perfectly symmetrical rows. I grab one of two pulling with all my night until they pop out. Adam does the same. "I think one more should do it." I mutter pulling on the last carrot. It won't budge from the ground. I plant my feet pulling harder. "Would you-" "nope! I got it." I groan yanking as hard as possible on the carrot. It gives and I launch backwards into the snow.
Adam lets out a startled laugh that turns to a roar as he begins to laugh harder and harder. I sit in the cold snow laughing too. "Come here." He's still laughing as he holds out a large paw for me. I take it, my skin tingles as he pulls me to my feet.
He helps me dust the snow off my back when I've balanced myself out. "Come on. We have some vegetables to collect." I nod picking up the bucket and following Adam to the next rows of vegetables and fruits.
When we're done, my fingers are frozen and my cheeks are permanently stained blush. Adam tells me to sit by the fire while he gets dinner. I want to protest but Adam doesn't give me the chance before he disappears into the dining room.
When Adam returns he carries two bowls of stew. I curl around the bowl he places in my hands. We eat in silence, but it isn't awkward it's peaceful and for now I forget about my problems, about gaston and my Ma. I'm safe and happy with Adam. And no one will take that from me.
