(y/n)'s status was known among the vampires and it caused much confusion, so, the first night that they had all arrived, Kaname suggested she greet the night class and explain her situation.

"Although I am a pure-blood vampire I wish for you all to treat me like a regular human girl during your time here. I have worked very hard to obtain the trust of many people and to conceal my identity. The reasons for this are none of your concern but should any of you let loose this secret, I will not be forgiving. Is that understood?"

All of the vampires who gathered in the room bowed respectfully responding with 'Yes Lady (y/n).' She left at the end of her short address and found Zero curled up on the ground a little way from the sun dorms.

YOUR POV

I spotted a hunched over figure on the ground, resting against a tree. I could hear groans of pain coming from the boy. His voice was a very familiar voice.

Rushing over I found Zero, his eyes glowed red and flickered along with the tattoo that was on the left side of his neck.

"Zero..." I rested a hand on his shoulder. He slapped it away trying to stand up.

"Leave me alone (y/n)." He grunted in pain.

"No Zero, come on, we need to go and see father."

"No." He shouted angrily. "I don't want to talk to that old fool."

"Zero, I know what's happening to you. Father will be able to help, please, come with me now."

"How do you know what's happening? You have no idea what I'm going through!"

"Oh, I don't? You seem to forget what happened to my parents and that I witnessed the whole thing. You're transitioning into a vampire Zero, you need help now get up."

I managed to pull him up as he reluctantly agreed to cooperate. I dragged him across the school to the headmasters office.

"Father, it's begun." I spoke exasperatedly as I helped Zero into the room.

"Oh dear, sit him here quickly, and be careful (y/n), he can be dangerous in this state."

The headmaster pulled out a small box of blood tablets and grabbed the glass of water from his desk. He dropped on of the tablets into it and forced the liquid into Zero's mouth.

Zero gagged and tried to spit it out, unsuccessfully. He swallowed the disgusting alternative blood source but it didn't do much. After a while he eventually calmed down.

"(y/n), take Zero back to his dorm for me. Just to make sure he gets back safely."

"Yes papa."

"And Zero, take these with you, they may not do much and you might hate them but if you need it you'll have them."

Zero angrily took the small box and marched out of the room, I quickly followed.

"Go home (y/n), I don't need you to babysit me."

"Well even if you don't need me I'm still coming with you. You had me worried back there." I sighed and smiled lightly.

He seemed annoyed by my words but I tried to not take too much notice of it. He went to say something pitiful until I stopped him in his tracks.

"You can tell me not to worry about you, that a monster like you isn't worth fussing over but I still will and you know I will Zero. You're my best friend and I'll be here to help you through the whole thing okay."

"I don't need any help." He snapped at me. He had never been a happy person but recently he had gotten crankier.

I let out a small sarcastic laugh, "Of course you don't." I continued walking by his side my head looking ahead.

I had grown to fancy Zero but it was obvious he did not feel the same way about me so I kept to myself. I would always care for him no matter what happened, even if he didn't need it.

The three of us had been together for four years now and although we were all close, Zero was even more so with Yuki rather than myself. There were times when I worried whether he didn't trust me and that he still suspected my being a vampire. I really hope he didn't. He was very dear to me.

My smile of contentment must have caught his eye. "What are you smiling about?" He sneered at me.

"I'm just glad you're okay now. Would you stop being so grumpy all the time, geez. I know there's not much to laugh about now but I miss those times when you would smile and when you would laugh. I haven't seen that smile of yours for so long I'm beginning to wonder if it ever even existed."

We arrived at his room and he went inside without saying a word.

"Seeing as how you claim I'm babysitting you I'll need to tuck you into bed too won't I?" I smiled playfully at him.

"No thank you."

"Oh come on Zero, I'm your babysitter after all, it's only appropriate. Come on little Zero hop into bed."

I pulled back the sheets and patted the mattress patronisingly. He grabbed my shoulders and drove me out of the room.

"Hey!" He slammed the door in my face. "Alright alright I'm going. - simple thank you would have been nice -" I spoke under my breath but he must have heard me. As I began to walk away, the door opened a fraction.

"(y/n)... Thanks... For helping me." He said quietly before closing the door gently.

"Always." I whispered to myself, beginning to walk back to my own room.

I was on my way to class the next day and spotted Zero a little way ahead. I jogged to catch up.

"Morning Zero." I smiled.

"Hey (y/n)."

"How are you feeling?" I asked quietly.

"Fine."

"That's good." We walked silently together until I broke the silence before the door. "Zero, if you ever need help, even if you don't want it, come to me. Please."

He seemed a little surprised by my request but kept his expression as it usually was, cold, neutral and unchanged.

We filed into the classroom and began the lesson. I sat near to the front as I was a little bit of a 'nerd' - as some would say.

I looked over my shoulder with my eyes only slightly turning my head. I caught a glimpse of Zero staring at the back of my head, not paying any attention to what the teacher was saying.

I wonder what he was thinking about.
