"Who were you talking to?" Zero eventually turned up after I hid Hanabusa's gift inside my jacket.
"Huh?" I said as though I had no idea what he was talking about.
"Just now, you were talking to someone."
"And I thought I was loopy from no sleep. Nobody was here Zero." I shrugged and raised both of my eyebrows acting innocently.
He looked at my hands which I returned to my outer pockets. "What's in your pockets?"
"My hands." I said bluntly.
"Show me then."
"Okay." I pulled my hands out and turned the pocket inside out as best I could. "Satisfied?" He gave a dissatisfied 'harumph' and walked off.
"So you never answered my question earlier."
"Which one?" He asked monotonously.
"How have you been, and don't bother trying to lie because you know I'll see through it." He remained silent. "So they've started again." I finished for him. "Just don't forget our promise."
"Promises are made to be broken." Zero sneered and looked away as we walked together.
"Just like rules." I said.
"No, rules are made to create order and keep people safe."
"Only if that's how you view it."
"(y/n)." Zero spoke sternly. "Why are you acting so childish and rebellious? You're a guardian. You should be setting an example not encouraging bad behaviour."
"Gee thanks daaad." I rolled my eyes. "Zero I'm just trying to get a point across in whatever way I can you thick-head. You said promises are made to broken so I countered and said just like rules. You defended the ideology of rules and I was defending the ideology of promises. In a way they have the same concept Zero so the moral of this small lecture being don't just go around saying things like that trying to start conflict if you're not ready to give valid reasoning or if you are incapable of making me see exactly why or how something is that way."
"Tch." He began to march away.
"See you act like this because you know I'm right. And you call me childish." I stuck my tongue out while he continued on with his back to me.
'Wait a minute, did he just say that to distract me from the whole subject? Why that no good cunning prat. Just you wait Kiryu, you're gonna get an earful from me in the morning.'
"You shit head!" I called out. He glanced over his shoulder and I caught that smirk playing on his lips. 'That evil smart-alec brat.' I growled at myself internally for not seeing his caper sooner. He always gets me with the same tricks.

I didn't get to sleep until late - yet again - and I woke up super early - yet again - but this time there was no dream which was a relief. I pulled out the little box that Hanabusa had given me and opened it. There was a small oval locket with a note inside.
'(y/n),
I didn't know if you'd really appreciate chocolates so I found this old photo of us when we became friends. I wasn't sure if you'd remember it so I wrote this note. Anyway I hope you like it. I do because you were such a cutie back then haha. (Still are).
- Hanabusa Aido'
I couldn't believe he had the same idea as me. I could never like the poor boy as much as he did myself but he was kind and sweet, to me anyway. I opened the locket to see a sepia picture of the two of us. It was the taken the second time we met and we instantly became friends because of how similar we were. I remember father taking the photo.
