I was studying quietly in my dorm room the next night when the thick smell of blood entered my nostrils. A familiar scent. I dropped everything and burst out of the room following the smell until I found Zero knocked out cold on the ground, Maria holding a katana, and a boy with a mask resembling my good friend.

"As I suspected, you are the pure-blood daughter of the (l/n)'s. But why are you here of all places, and why doesn't anyone know who you really are?"

"Because I'm no more a vampire than the headmaster himself. What did you do to Zero?"

"He'll be fine... For now at least."

"I swear if you harm him again in any way I will permanently end you myself. I knew there was something off about you from the moment you entered this academy. You're using Maria's body as your puppet. You're the woman who forced Zero into this dark and dismal state of suffering." I faced the silver haired male behind her. "And you, his supposedly beloved brother, betraying him like this. If only you really knew the pain that your esteemed death inflicted onto him. How sickening."

"(y/n)." I turned around to find Kaname.

"What kind of sick thing are you planning if it involves this mutiny?"

"I can't tell you anything right now. You'll just need to learn to be patient. It's time to go to bed now (y/n) and forget all about this minor mishap tonight." As he spoke my vision began to fade in and out and the last thing I remember is falling on the ground beside Zero to Kaname's words.

I woke up in my bed in a daze. 'I don't remember falling asleep here what the heck? I thought I was studying. Oh well. I must've been to tired to notice.' I made my way down to breakfast and ate in my place as usual.

"I wonder where Zero is this morning." The headmaster voiced his concerns. "I hope he's feeling alright." I nodded. My nose twitched slightly. There had been a strangely familiar smell hanging around since I had woken up but I couldn't quite place what it was or where it was coming from.

The day went by rather slowly and consisted of multiple exams for the different subjects we had. Zero didn't show up once for class and I assumed he was sick so I went to check on him before I went on duty.

I knocked on his dorm door. "Hey Zero, it's (y/n). You didn't show up to school today, are you okay?" I asked through the wooden barrier. No response came. "Zero?" I opened his door and peeked in. The silver haired boy was nowhere to be found. 'That's strange. Maybe he's feeling better and he's already headed out.' I thought to myself.

I left the dorms and checked at the stables quickly before heading to the moon dormitory gates. He wasn't anywhere in sight. I shrugged it off and went to guard the night class as usual.

There weren't many out as they were busy studying and preparing for exams. I was standing casually as a few girls were scattered along the path and the gates opened. The night class walked along peacefully.

"(Y/n)." I looked over to Hanabusa who had called out to me. He stood with me while the other students passed by. "I'm sorry about yesterday. I often forget my popularity among the day class girls. I didn't know they'd try to hunt you down."

"Oh it's fine but thanks." I smiled. 'I wonder how he knew about that. Takuma must've said something.'

"And I should also apologise for being a pain. I forget my place."
