I was still in my home wear that evidently I had forgotten, however, returning to the auditorium, I felt something within myself. I called out to my father.
"Do you like them?" He asked in reference to my new accessories.
"Yes however you could have warned me beforehand that they're hunters blades."
"I thought it was obvious." He said innocently.
I shook my head and held up my finger that was still threatening to spill blood. "It's time I embrace who I really am. I'd like a night class uniform." I said curtly.
"Oh, well, by all means go right ahead." He spoke surprised by my sudden demands.
I left once again and fished around in the clothing pool to find a uniform that'd fit me. I quickly got changed and belted my swords to my legs and waist. I pulled my armband over the top of my jacket sleeve and was on my way.
I turned my face upward to look at the sky. 'It appears that dusk is nearing far too quickly. No matter. The faster it arrives the faster this whole ordeal will finally be over.' My nose twitched. 'The air is filled with nothing but the scent of blood, stale and fresh. It's getting harder to decipher the origins of it.' I walked around the campus freely. 'It's so quiet.'
The sun sank beyond the horizon and the darkness began closing in. It was a long night of walking aimlessly around the school. Not once was I attacked and I was starting to get bored.
I sniffed the air once again. The faint smell of Zero's blood whiffed toward me, slowly growing stronger. My worry for him rose and still I couldn't bring myself to face him yet. However when it began to mix with another scent almost identical to his I high tailed it off toward where Zero was being held.
I heard a pained scream as I closed in on the cellar. I reached the bottom of the stairwell and the door ripped open before me. Zero emerged grasping the wall and tearing an entire brick out. I glanced behind him to see his brother laying in a pool of blood, seemingly at peace. He ignored me completely as though I were invisible to him and staggered up the stairs. I watched after him.
I followed him out of the dungeon at a distance and watched him wander off into the sun in which had began to rise once more. I sighed knowing that there was nothing for me to do for Zero and instead walked to the front gate where Yargari was stationed.
I heard a gunshot and started running. "Damn, out of ammo. I should have brought my sword instead." I heard him say as I ran past him, my weapons drawn. I stampeded toward the horde of vampires piling up at the gate.
I slashed about taking out multiple level E's at once. I worked my way down the steps of the academy. I heard rumbling behind me and glanced back to see my father standing in a pile of rubble that was the front gate.
'A bit over the top don't you think? What am I saying? That's what you're all about.' I laughed to myself blocking the attacking monsters from touching me. I stabbed one vampire through the stomach followed by another. One came from behind however I drew one of my older swords and extended it through his head before he reached me. I returned it to its position and took up my other blade once more.
My father jumped down from his post and let out a battle cry charging for another pod of vampires headed our way. "Together (y/n)!" He yelled.
"Together!" I nodded and whizzed around the place cutting down vampires left, right and centre. Time dragged on as my father and I fought the army outside the academy's wall. It's was somewhat painful. Before I knew it darkness had shrouded the land but it wasn't quite night.
