Family Dinners

LIAM'S POV

We have a week till the wedding, we are having close friends and family. It's set out in a small chapel on the eastern side of London. Maddie's brothers flew down last night to help set up. They truly love her, I can tell that they miss her too. But in a way they are happy for her, happy that she found somebody to watch her. Now they are very protective, of course they would be, she's their baby sister.

Tonight our families are getting together to meet eachother, admitting that I wasn't nervous would be an understatement. I know my family, duh! And her brothers are sweet, but will my parents like her side of the family. What if they question about her parents, what are we supposed to say, the truth? Yes, but I don't want something to become horrible out of it, such as tears. Yes I know, it's a serious topic, but when Maddie wants to say something about it, I sure as hell will let her. My parents (our parents) are very understanding, I just hope they don't question too far, ya know?

Here I am sitting on the bed all dressed and ready sitting with Casey on my lap, waiting for Maddie to finish, God, girls take forever. She doesn't even need to do that much to get ready, she's already gorgeous. "Maddie are you almost ready?" I don't think she heard me, she was playing music in the bathroom, "Maddie?" I heard her yelp, "Oww!" Casey started laughing at the silly faces I was making to keep her occupied, "Are you okay babe?" I heard the music turn off, "Yeah, just burned my ear, but it's okay. Is Casey all ready?" "Yes babe! We are waiting for you." I chuckled, "Well sorry, I gots to look purrdyy for my fiance!" I laughed, "You already are!" I heard her awe. "Casey stop biting my finger!" I chuckled, causing Casey to laugh. Maddie stepped out of the bathroom in a red dress and boots, she grabbed Casey and started walking toward the door, "Ready?" I nodded and proceeded downstairs where the families were waiting.

MADDIE'S POV

We are getting ready to head out to dinner. Okay so this is probably the first time since we have brought Casey out in public, we are both scared, Liam and I. Casey is now seven months old, oh my word she is getting big. It's been about four months since Liam proposed, and honestly I want this wedding to be over with. Not because I don't like weddings, it's just the last time I was at a wedding I cried my eyes out. It was my brothers. And the fact that my parents aren't here with me, makes it harder. My mom always wanted to help me get ready, my dad always told me that he wanted to give his princess away to someone special. Tears started coming to my eyes just thinking about this. I can't cry. This was supposed to be a good dinner, with no tears.

Liam and I left in the cab with Casey and headed toward some fancy restaurant we both haven't been to, surprising right? He always spoils me with dinners! We were almost to the restaurant when Casey started having a cry session. "Casey, baby! It's okay, mommy and daddy are here." Liam started making silly faces, the classic monkey face always got her to quiet down, I don't know why that face, personally it's scary, if it was on anyone else I would kick them in the balls. "Casey, can you smile for mommy!" I smiled at her, she smiled then went back to biting Liam's fingers. I have no idea why, probably because I am constantly biting my fingers.... Probably because of that.

We pulled up to the restaurant, it was quite extravigent, it was very fancy. Just looking at the outside you could tell this was not some old cheap restaurant. I swear this resturaunt could please the queen and her men. There is no way we could afford this, even with all the money from our jobs. I just stood outside in awe, it was beautiful, the lights shown down on the grey pavement with lamp heaters around the outside. "I'm sure it's amazing on the inside." Liam chuckled staring at me, I blushed, how long was I standing there gapping. "Casey do you see all the pretty lights?" She laughed and clapped her hands. Can she get even more adorable. We walked into the resturaunt, "Payne for eight." The hostess smiled and when she realized it was Liam Payne, she started screaming, obviously a fan. She started getting shakey and started babling on and on about how cute he is. She looked between me and Casey, "Maddie! Oh my God! You're marrying a God! Do you know that?" I laughed and nodded, "I am quite aware!" Liam blushed, awe! "Ah your baby is adorable! Oh my God! She looks just like you!" I chuckled, "She looks more like her father." The hostess couldn't stop smiling, we probably just stood there for a while talking, "Riley! Get back to work!" That was probably her boss, "Oh right! Erh... Right this way!" Riley showed us to a back table, closed off for the eight of us. Casey would be sitting on my lap.

The dinner was going great! My brothers seemed to like the Payne's, thank God! I was so scared they wouldn't. My neice and nephew were back at home with the others, probably having the time of their lives, they were huge fans! They flipped out when I told them I was marrying Liam, oh my God, faces were priceless. Casey has fallen asleep on her fathers lap, snoring slightly. "Maddie?" I looked up from my dessert plate, "Mhm?" I looked who said my name, "Can I ask you a question?" That was Ruth, I gulped, I hope she doesn't ask the question that I was dreading. My parents. Oh boy how would I explain that to them without the water works. I couldn't cry, not infront of the family and especially infront of Casey, she would start crying too. Frick. "Yes you may Ruth! What is it?" I smiled, "When are we going to meet your parents?" I saw Liam and my brothers tense up, I could tell this was going to be very difficult. I sighed, but tried to put on a fake smile, "My parents passed away when I was sixteen. As well as my little sister." Well that wasn't that bad. "I'm sorry!" Ruth looked at me then between my brothers, they just nodded and I smiled. "May I ask how?" Oh shit. There is no way I could explain this. Ruth yelped from across from me, I raised my eyebrow, "Don't be so nosey." Liam stated grabbing my hand and giving me a light squeeze for reassurance. "Sorry, I was just wondering..." Ruth trailed off, "No it's fine Ruth. Uh, it's probably good to talk about it." I looked at my brothers, then Liam who interlocked our fingers. Here it goes. "They were murdered. One of my best friends was a little phsyco and he couldn't get over his ex girlfriend. She cheated on him, and I knew... I never told him, I should of, but I didn't. He took it out all on my family, all out on me," I trailed off, I couldn't look at them, so I just stared at my plate, "He told me it was all my fault. He told me I should of told him, we were like brother and sister, and that's what hurt the most. He wanted to hurt me, not physically but emotionally, like how he hurt. He was broken hearted and he wanted me to suffer that. So he took the gun, killed my parents and my sister along with himself. God it's been three years since that incident. Ruth, thanks for asking, there was no way I could keep that in for a long time." I looked back up from my plate to see my brothers smiling at me, and Ruth and Anne's faces sad and confused, probably because they don't know what I've been through.

"I'll tell you this. For the last three years, I wanted my family back, I wanted my mom to tell me everything is going to be okay. Have my dad tell me that I was his princess and that I was going to marry my prince and have an amazing family. My sister telling that I was her inspiration, telling me that she loved me. I miss that. But sometimes I think about if that never happened, I wouldn't be here today. I wouldn't be marrying your brother, the most amazing person and he is truly the most beautiful person I have ever met. He's my prince and I'm his princess." I looked over at Liam who was beaming at me with a fade of pink on his cheeks. Then I looked down at Casey, still snuggled up on her daddy's lap, "And I wouldn't have this beautiful girl. And you want to know something, even though I don't have my true parents or the family that I miss so much, I still get my family that I've always wanted." Liam kissed my cheek. I think everyone was in tears by now.

We said goodbye to the family at the restaurant as we parted our separate ways. When we got home I put Casey in her crib and went to go curl up in my own bed. "You okay?" Liam asked sliding into his side of the bed, "I'm great." Liam didn't ask anymore questions, and I thank him for that, I just closed my eyes letting my dreams take over.
