“Baby! Where are you? Why are there people here?” Ali’s voice called up the stairs, but died down towards the end. I’m guessing she went from the hall to the kitchen where Elizabeth, Freddy and Carlisle were all sitting on the breakfast stools.

Carlisle was appropriately dressed for the night, and I was nearly done. I just needed a bit of help. Standing at the top of the stairs, I called Ali. “Ali, can you please help me?” I heard her stutter slightly which caused me to laugh. She is never speechless.

“Wh-What do you need?” Really. “Help. Get your arse up these stairs now.” I head a rumble of laughs from downstairs and the tell-tale of heels stomping down the laminated hall.

“Can you help do my corset and pick my shoes?” She nodded. Her eyes wide. . “What the hell baby?” She demanded. Oh god. I knew they would be able to hear us. Stepping into my bedroom I shut the door behind me, turning the music up from my stereo which I found out was playing Ellie Goulding – Goodness Gracious I turned to face my best friend.

“Its complicated.” I shrugged. What can I say? I’m dating a vampire who has been buried in a tomb for over three hundred years? Oh and that is his ‘creation’ Freddy with his vampire wife?

“How so? Turn around.” Turning she began pulling the string through the loops. “It just is. But Carlisle is my boyfriend.” That is weird saying. I heard her gasp. “For real?” I nodded.

“How old is he?” Six hundred years in vampire years. So that’s a total of six hundred and twenty five years of age. “Twenty five.” “Wow.” Hmm… We didn't know what to say. I am not the one to have boyfriends, and now I am dating someone who is much older than me? And who is a vampire? My grandmother probably would turn in her grave. I sighed.

Ali finished doing up the corset, but she must be pretty pissed I have told her nothing as I can hardly breathe. The corset is one of mine, the one that came with the costume was just a bit of material. Plus my one is nicer. I can’t even remember why I have it.

Dropping onto the bed, I didn't know what to do. Everything was just too much and I didn't know what to say, or who to say it too. I have no one I can talk to about this and ask their opinion. I can’t ask Elizabeth as she will tell Freddy and Freddy will tell Carlisle. Not to mention, I don’t think talking to a vampire who is happily married to her soul mate will help.

“I’ve never seen you like this. You seem confused. You’re my best friend. Please tell me what’s going on.” I wanted to. Say badly. I just couldn’t put her at risk. “I just can’t. Maybe another time.” I knew she wanted to get it out of me, but there was no way how.

“Alright. Erm, I think you should wear these.” Ali handed me a pair of just below the knee, black boots. They had a small heel on them, which made them comfy. The fact that they were below the knee, a bit loose and folded over at the top showed that they weren’t slutty. I also wore thin black tights, which I kept getting caught to everything.  Looking at myself in the mirror I approved.

“Wait! Sit!” I sat on my stool at my dressing table and was made to close my eyes. I could tell she was brushing something on my face. She was doing my make-up. Maybe natural wasn’t the way to go for a pirate.

I don’t know how long I was sitting there for, but what I do know is that my head hurt from back combing, my eyes felt heavy from makeup, and my lips were dry from lipstick. “All done.” Opening me eyes, she smiled to herself with glee. Standing up, I looked in the full length mirror. I looked… I looked different.
