Emelia's pov:
I heard a car pulling up in the driveway of my dads house and I walked out to see Shawn carrying Grace up to the door. "Where's Micheal?" I asked with a small smile on my face.
"He went to Richard's again. His mom said they'll drop him off here." He said and gave Grace a kiss before she ran into the house to my dad. "Thank you. I thinks she appreciates it." I said and he stepped closer to me.
"I saw Micheal playing. He is so good." He said and my heart leaped. "You went to his practice?" I asked with a smile and he nodded.
"I told him about the divorce." I croaked out after a while of silence, and just us standing in the doorway. "He doesn't want it to happen." I said more like a whisper and Shawn put his hands in his pockets.
"Yeah about that. I'm not gonna sign those papers Emelia." He said chuckling and walked off. "Wait." He said and turned back. "Goodnight." He said and kissed my cheek.
He's changing. He's making time.
I watched him as he drove off and I looked down at my ring. "I don't want you to sign them either." I whispered to myself and closed the door as I walked back in.
THAT NIGHT
I couldn't sleep.
Micheal was still watching TV in the living room. I stood up from the bed and kissed Grace before walking to the living room. Micheal was asleep.
I turned the TV off and tucked him in, kissing his forehead before I got my car keys and drove back home. When I arrived all the lights were out and I slowly walked upstairs.
Shawn was asleep on the bed and I smiled as I walked closer to him. I crouched down next to him, watching him as he sleep. I cupped his cheek and softly caressed it with my thumb and then brushed my fingers through his hair.
His eyes slowly fluttered open and he looked at me a bit confused. "I didn't mean to wake you." I said and he scooted over. "Please honey." He said softly and I stood up, laying down next to him.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and lulled me closer to him.
It feels so right to be back in his arms.
