The walk to school from my house only takes 10 minutes. By the time I see the sign that reads "North Ridge High School", I have at least another 15 minutes before the bell goes. As I walk down the concrete steps towards the main door, I hear somebody calling my name.

"Olivia! Over here!" I turn around to see my best friend, Anna, running towards me.

"Anna! Oh my god we haven't seen each other since June!" I say to her as we hug. She hasn't changed one bit: she still has the same long blond hair, green eyes, and freckles, and apparently she hasn't outgrown her favorite "Pretty Little Liars" t-shirt. We talk about our summer breaks as we walk through the familiar metal doors.

Anna and I set off to homeroom together, backpacks swaying between our shoulder blades. We see the door that says "Mrs. Prior" and we push it open. Anna sits down at the back of the room and I take a seat beside her. Other students start filing into the room, some sitting down just as the bell is going. Finally, Mrs. Prior sits down at her desk, her red hair pulled into a braid. She is Anna and I's favorite teacher, by far.

"Good morning class!" she chirps happily. She greets us all with a huge smile that shows off her almost-perfect teeth. For the rest of the class she refreshes our memories about rules and regulations. By the end of the overly-long hour and twenty minutes, the whole class is practically bored to death, except for Anna and I, who whispered the entire time.

At lunch, Anna and I meet up with our other friends, Krystal, Bethany, Riley and Marisa. We all sit at a table in the cafeteria and talk about our summers. For lunch I have a salad and a watermelon flavored Arizona tea. We are laughing about something when a really cute guy walks by our table. Anna, Marisa and Krystal all blush and look down at the ground. Bethany and Riley just giggle. I just watch him walk past me as I try to look cute. I'm not really good with guys, but maybe if he notices me I might have a chance.

At the 2:45 bell, kids start spilling out of the school, making it impossible for me to navigate through the halls. Once Anna and I step outside into the warm breeze, we walk back to my house.
