I wake up the next morning exhausted. The night before I was up all night with Alec. We decided to make an iMovie and the filming lasted until around 12:00 pm. Groaning, I get out of bed. I bang on Cameron's door and head into the bathroom to have a shower. I'm just about to get in when I get a text from Bethany. It reads: COME TO MY HOUSE NOW! IT'S AN EMERGENCY! Knowing Beth, when she says it's serious, it's serious. I quickly shower, get dressed in sweatpants, a tank top and a hoodie, leave a note on the counter for my mom and grab my bike from the garage. Without stopping to grab my helmet I pedal out of the driveway.
It takes me 10 minutes to get to Beth's house. Once I'm in the driveway I hop off my bike and lean it up against a hedge. I run to her backyard, climb onto her patio and sneak in through her bedroom window.
"Beth! Where are you?" I yell as I walk through the hallway.
"Liv! I'm in the kitchen!" She yells back at me. I walk quickly through the kitchen doors. Everything seems to be in order, except for a white piece of paper smeared with ink sitting on the counter.
"Oh Beth, what happened?" I ask her. She swallows and looks at me.
"Well, I woke up this morning and everything was normal. I assumed that my mom was just at work. I was about to make breakfast for myself when I noticed this note on the counter." She picks up the note and hands it to me. I read it: Dear Bethany and Noah, I have decided that you are better off without me. I've gone to live with a friend of mine. You are mature enough to look after yourselves. All I do is set a bad example for the both of you. I love you and I'm sorry. Best of luck, mom.I set the note down on the counter and look at Beth. Without thinking I pull her into a tight hug.
"Beth, what are you going to do?" I ask her. She shrugs.
"I don't know, Liv." She says.
"You and Noah can come and live with my family! That would be so much fun!" I suggest. She smiles gratefully.
"Thanks for the offer, Liv, but I think we should find some relatives to stay with instead. Not out of the neighborhood of course. My aunt and uncle live just around the corner, and besides, I think Noah would prefer that." She tells me. I smile at her.
"Okay, whatever works for you." I watch as she re-reads the note.
"Well, I should probably go now, as long as you don't need me anymore" I run my fingers through my wet hair.
"Thank you so much Olivia" Bethany hugs me and I walk back to my bike, psyching myself out for school.
