Weeks passed by and with every therapy appointment, Luke told himself he would tell Jenna about Becca, but he never did. The thought of the situation would just remind him of how vulnerable he was - and that was something he hated about himself and if he wasn't like that, he wouldn't have given Becca all those chances and maybe things would be better than they were. If he wasn't as vulnerable as he was, he might have moved on by now and found someone else.

He knew at some point he had to open up about the situation, as much as he didn't want to, considering it was a huge factor that caused how he had been feeling for what seemed like forever to him.

As terrifying as it was, he walked into Jenna's office ready to tell her everything.

"How are you, Luke?"

"Honestly, a little nervous," Luke said.

"And why is that?"

"There's something I should probably tell you."

Luke took a deep breath and started to explain everything that happened with Becca.

"A few years ago, I started dating someone. Things went really well for a long time until she was kissing someone. The next day, she told me it was a mistake and that she didn't mean it. Me, being the forgiving person that I am, I gave her a second chance. The situation died down until she seemingly cheated again. I gave her another chance. This time around I had my suspicions, but I still stayed with her despite it all. Then I saw her having an affair with someone else, and I could tell that it was definitely not an accident. I broke things off right then and there."

Luke sighed, nervously waiting to hear how Jenna would react.

"First of all, that's good that you finally broke things off with her. You don't need that type of negativity in your life, nobody does," Jenna told him, "Why did you keep giving her more chances if you knew she was treating you this way?"

"I'm vulnerable. I'm gullible. I actually believed that deep down inside, she still loved me all this time despite how many times I was treated so badly, and I hate myself because I'm like that. I sometimes regret staying with her because, you're right, maybe it was for the best," Luke said, "I stayed with her all those times because I didn't know what I would do without her. I was scared of how I would be if I didn't have her in my life and how I've been feeling ever since then is exactly what I was scared of, but I didn't know if I could even fix it. I felt empty without her and it felt like there was a void that could never be filled."

"It seems like you relied on her for your happiness and well-being," Jenna said, trying to restate what Luke had just opened up to her about.

"I basically did. I was too scared to let her go. I either had to stay with her and risk the chance of getting treated badly again, or let her go and have to leave behind a large piece of the past several years of my life," Luke explained.

"Do you still love her or miss her?" Jenna asked.

Luke nodded.

"If you love someone, let them go."
