Harry:
You go into the kitchen to make yourself a sandwich. Harry is standing by the sink filling up a huge bucket of water.
“What are you going to do with that?” you ask.
“Huh,” he says in his usual half listening way, “Oh, I’m going to clean the kitchen floor.”
“That’s nice. Thanks Harry,” you encourage him. You’ve been asking him to clean the kitchen for a long time, and you thought he was just trying to get out of doing any work around the house so you’re surprise to see help. You get all of your sandwich supplies out and set them on the table. You keep a careful eye on Harry because you know even though he means well, he’ll often make at least one huge mistake. He takes the bucket out of the sink and you can tell he’s struggling with lifting it up. “Harry babe, maybe you should pour some of the water out. You might spill it,” you suggest.
“I’ll be fine,” he assures you, “Are you questioning my strength?” You see in his eyes that his mind is saying, “challenge accepted."
“Harry that is not a challenge. You don’t have to prove any thing to me, I believe you.”
“Too late,” he replies bringing the bucket to his chest. He starts focusing really on the bucket and slowly begins to lift it above his head.
“See,” he says, but his eyes get big and you realize he is losing balance and staggering your way.
“I got it, I got it, I don’t got it,” Harry says before you duck because you see the bucket tip right above your head. You stay down expecting to get drenched, but no water ever hits you. You look up at Harry very confused.
“April Fools’’!” he says with a huge smile, “Got you.” You exhale in relief and nod, happy that he chose to just scare you not attack you today.
“So you’re not going to clean the kitchen?” you ask, still slightly shocked.
“Not a chance,” he says as he steals your sandwich and runs out of the kitchen.
Niall:
Last year Niall got you pretty good with an April Fools’ joke. He put your clear nail polish on the soap so you couldn’t lather it up, and you got embarrassingly frustrated. He kept playing along with it too, so he made you look pretty foolish by the time he told you the truth. You really want to get him back this year, and you’ve come up with the perfect plan. You cut the bottom out of the Lucky Charms Box. It’s the only cereal you have left, so you know he will be reaching for it when he wakes up. Then you opened the bag and dumped all of the cereal into the box that you flipped upside down, and threw away the bag. You get up on a chair, so you can quickly flip the box onto a high shelf. A few pieces of cereal fall, but you’ve managed to successfully place the box. You hop down to pick up the dropped cereal to hide your tracks, then sit back down at the table and wait for Niall. You hear him stomp down the stairs. He looks at the bowl of cereal you poured before rigging the box, you put it there simply to entice him, but you act like you’re eating from it.
“They’re on the top shelf if you want some,” you explain. He nods, and opens the cupboard. He spots them and has to hop a bit to reach the box. The marshmallows and cereal spill all over him, and he even manages to whip some of it at you and across the table as his arm jerks from jumping. You can swear you see him open his mouth to catch some pieces in a panic.
“What the?” he says as he stares at all the pieces on the ground and then gives you a confused look.
“April Fools’,” you say giggling at his reaction.
