What To Do

Sloane POV

"Fuck me." I mumble under my breath. I was changing Si on the changing table, while I was wiping his butt he started to poop on me.
"Si baby, Mommy is trying to wipe your butt!" I said to him.
He giggled, and began eating his finger.
"Bet you wouldn't be pooping on me if daddy were here huh?" I questioned him. He smacked his hands onto my face, poking his lips out at me.
"Aww I love you too baby boy." I pecked his little lips and his face several times as he began screaming happily.
Ring!
Daniel's name popped up on the phone with a cute photo of him, Si and I that my brother took a little while ago.
"Hey beautiful!" Daniel said cheerfully into the phone.
"Hey baby." I replied solemnly.
"How's my lovely lady doing today?"
"I'm oka-" just then Si screamed, reaching for my face.
"AAAAHHHH"
"Aw my little man hears my voice! Babe, put him on." I handed Si the phone, holding it to his ear.
"Hey little man!" Daniel said, Si was talking into the phone in his own little language as Daniel pretended to converse with him.
"Alright baby boy, I wanna talk to mommy. Is that okay?" Si started talking again, almost angrily as he began biting my phone.
"Si!" I hollered. He looked at me baffled as I took the phone from him to put Daniel on FaceTime.
"What's going on?" Daniel asked. Soon the screen popped up so he could see us both.
"Si was eating my phone because you wanted to talk to me." Daniel began to laugh whole-heartedly, like it would kill him to stop.
Si sat there with a smirk, first looking at me and then happily at his father.
"That face too! He loves his dad is all." Daniel said.
"Yeah he needs to start loving his mommy. I didn't spend 9 months pregnant and-
"And 14 hours in the delivery room to have an disrespectful child." We said in unison.
"Sloane, he's only 8 months and you already got this annoying ass line."
"And whenever I say it he's gonna say it with me like you do and behave." I nodded and held Si's face to match my gaze.

Just then there was a knock at the door. It was Kale.
"Can I take Si on a walk in the park?" He asked.
"Uhh, okay. Why?" I asked, a little surprised.
Kale usually just babysits when I go out.
"I can't spend time with my nephew?" He asked rudely.
"He's going to pick up girls." Daniel said laughing.
"Babe we went out one time and these girls were all over him with Si."
I look shocked as they both laughed.
"Okay but seriously, can I take him? I gotta hella numbers last time." He asked again.
"Okay, but pay attention to my son! Not a scratch." I scolded.
"Relax!" He said as he took Si and waved to Daniel.
"My little nephew is in good hands." Kale smiled, kissing Si's cheek.
"Allstate style." Daniel said.
"And the dad jokes start." I replied laughing.
"Work on your dad jokes!" Kale yelled while leaving the room.

"Alright D, I'm gonna get dressed and start cooking breakfast. Ooh babe! I was thinking, when you get back.. maybe I can try and find some work as a film director. What do you think?" I asked.

"Uh, okay. Sure babe." Daniel hesitated.
"Okay what was that?" I asked.
"What?"
"You hesitated Daniel." I sighed heavily.
"Guess we'll talk about it another time."
"Umm, okay yeah."
Silence fell while both of us looked away from each other. I finally spoke
"Baby I gotta go. Love you."
"Love you too."
I hung up, heading to the couch where my mother was, watching tv. She was watching House on Netflix, some older episodes.
"Reesie, You see da yellow in he eyes?" My mom points to the tv.
"Yes mom-"
"He liver is failing. Watch."
Just then the main character confirmed my mother's sentence.
"I could be a doctor." My mother said happily, continuing her show.
I laid my head on her shoulder as we watched in silence. I was stuck in my own thoughts.
It just feels like Daniel and I can't agree on anything. And I was just trying to make peace with the tour thing.
I never thought I was asking for too much.
