Time Away

Josiah's 1st Birthday

I was tapping my phone against my hand as I waited for Daniel in the airport. Finally I saw him walking towards me with a big smile on his face.
"Baaabbbeee!!!" He hollered towards me.
"Finally! It's been an hour love." I replied. Once he reached me he kissed my lips, long and passionately.
"I missed you." He said lovingly.
"I missed you too big head." I smiled all goofy.
"Where's the birthday boy?" Daniel asked.
"He is home. Waiting on you! We gotta go." I said rushing him back to the car. Daniel hopped in the front seat and sped home, his hand firmly in mine as he drove.
Once home, Daniel ran inside to see Si.
"JOOOSSIIIAAHHHH!!!!" I heard Daniel from outside.
I laughed lightly to myself opening the trunk to get his things. He had 3 huge bags so I just closed the trunk and walked into the house.
Daniel was spinning Josiah around the living room as he screamed and laughed. My mom sat on the couch snapping photos, laughing too. Daniel then kissed all over Josiah's face exclaiming,
"My little man is one today!!"
Daniel walked over to me and kissed my lips as Si tried to kiss me too. Mom was taking more photos of us then too.
"Hey Mrs Tantie, how are you?" Daniel asked.
"Me good baby. How you? Ya behavin yaself out dere?" She asked laughing to herself.
"Yes ma'am." Daniel chuckled. Daniel put him down so she can take some more. Josiah walked towards her smiling and giggling.
"Mommie get a couple of Si by himself too. So we can see how big he got." I said. She nodded and snapped some more.
"Now you, me and Kale need to set up." I said wrapping my arms around his shoulders.
"I hate to be that guy but can I take a nap instead?" He asked shyly.
"No! I need help."
"Did somebody say help?!" Andrea burst through the door hollering her question.
"Hi my little boo boo!!" She hollered again as Si screamed and ran towards her too.
"Auntie Drea is here Pootie!! Say Dreeaaa! Say it baby boy!" She smothered him in kisses as she harassed my son.
Andrea hasn't been around much since she moved in with Roger, they live about an hour away so she comes every once in awhile and FaceTimes when she can. She got tons of gigs as an actress and I'm so proud of her.
"Andrea!!! I missed you girl!" I ran to her and hugged her, my son in between us.
"I missed you too babe! We gotta catch up. Let Daniel sleep and we'll set up, me and you lovey. " Andrea hugged Daniel too.
"Thanks Andrea. Where's Roger?" He hugged her tight.
"He's at work but he said he will be here in an hour."
"Good! Let's go decorate. Go sleep baby." I kissed his lips and shoved Andrea into the kitchen.
Daniel ran upstairs.
"Get those bags out of my trunk!"
And then back down for the bags. My mom watched Si and Kale was in his room studying.

"So how's family life babe?" Andrea asked as she rummaged through the decorations on the kitchen table.
"Things are awesome now. I don't know if I told you about all the nonsense with me and Daniel before. We just got back on good terms." I rolled my eyes and she giggled.
"I'm all ears Lovey." Andrea said. I loved when she called me that. She's definitely an amazing mom friend. I smiled to myself as I filled her in on everything as we decorated..

"PARTYYYY TIIIMMMEEEE!!! Roger yelled as he came through the door with a fruit tray. Daniel's family trailed in behind Roger bearing huge gift boxes.
"Hey guys!! Aww thanks so much for the gifts!"
Andrea and I took the gifts and set them underneath the table. Daniel's father, Mr. Simmons fought me for his gift.
"Where's your man to lift this one? Mine is heavy!" He said walking his gift over and giving me a big hug.
"You don't think I'm tough Mr Simmons?" I asked, flexing my arms.
"I know you are sweetie." He laughed and kissed my forehead, and trailed off to find Si. I then hugged and greeted the rest of Daniel's family.
After some time the house was filled with all our family and friends to celebrate our son Josiah. Josiah had a ball, my mother took tons of pictures of him running around with his cousins and plenty more with other family members. Before I knew it it was time for Si to blow out his candles.
Si stood on Daniels lap as I recorded the moment and sang with everyone. His cousin Sutton (Angela's son) sat beside both of them eagerly awaiting Josiah's cake.
"... happy birthday to yooouuuuu!!! Blow out the candles stinkah!" I hollered to Si.
Si got up close on the cake but scrunched his face up at the tiny flame. Sutton flew forward as he blew out the lone candle, his face falling onto the side of the cake. Everyone laughed hysterically, luckily Sutton only sideswiped the cake.
Angela rushed over to our boys and dug a finger into some icing to smear it on Daniel and Josiah's faces!
"Real mature." Daniel said.
"My baby isn't about to be the only one." Angela replied laughing.
"Birthday rules, baby has to get cake on his face." Kale said laughing.
My mom grabbed some wipes for the boys and passed Josiah to Mrs Simmons. I knew she was dying to hold him. Daniel and I cut everyone slices of cake as they all hung out and talked the remainder of the party.
Kale was hanging out with Jojo and Roger, my mom was talking to Vanessa, Andrea and Mrs Simmons, the kids were all playing, Russy chasing them and Mr Simmons was loving all over Josiah. I watched from the threshold of the kitchen as Daniel crept up behind me.
He nudged my shoulder playfully and I just looked at him smiling. He rubbed my back lightly in passing as he made his way over to the guys. I walked over to Mr Simmons.

"You know you guys can take him sometime soon if you want. Have a grandparents weekend!" I said smiling at Josiah. He giggled and smacked his drool covered hands on Mr Simmons face.
"Uh uh, just a day is nice. I gotta be able to hand him back when he poops." Mr Simmons laughed and kissed Si's cheek.
"Pappy ya yo." Si mumbled as he rested his head on his grandfathers chest.
"I love you too grandson." Mr Simmons walked all around the living room with Si until he fell asleep. Everyone soon left once Si fell asleep. My mom went to bed, Kale went to his room to study and Daniel, Si and I went to bed, sleeping together as a family.
