Out of no where Nikki starts withering and screaming in pain. Jace holds her and tries to comfort her but it useless.
"HELP PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!" She screams over and over again. Xavier and I try everything in our power to help her but it seems to only make it worse. Jace is going hysterical, knowing that his mate was hurting and couldn't do anything about it. Finally Xavier and I give up and just put a silencing spell and a restraining spell on her. Xavier starts to drive away and I keep the spells in place while trying to tap into her mind. All I can sense from her is pain, slow, agonizing pain. Suddenly she breaks free of the spells and starts withering and screaming once again before going limp.
"I think it's happening to her too." Xavier says before shooting me a look.
"What are you talking about?" I angrily demand. We are dealing with something almost unheard off in the witch world. There are myths that witches throw awful fits when contacting the gods and goddesses of the witch world. The main one being Mother Nature.
"This is what happened to you three days ago., except it wasn't as strong for you because you didn't have your powers repressed at the time. For Nikki it's worse. Eric had repressed her powers while she was in the castle/mansion. Once she left the restrain boundaries, sensations were all thrown at her at once."
"Xavier, how do you know all this?" I'm seriously impressed but the fact that he knew all this but didn't share, made me the slightest bit angry.
"We had a class on special cases back at the coven during elementary. Our system of education is different in the coven I come from, from yours. You go to a witch school from age 5 to 14 then you enter the public school system for high school." He explains.
"So it's kinda like a real life HogWarts?" I interrupt.
"Yeah, in a way. See your coven, you wait until your powers to develop before you start to work with them, we start at teaching kids basic potions and work our way up so that by the time our powers fully manifest we already have control over them. Once powers have manifested, we have smaller classes. We take exams that classify us in the type of magic we posses. Did you know that each witch has a certain type of magic they posses. Some people are warriors by nature so it's easier for them to preform defense or battle spells and potions. Your sister is a nature witch, from what I've heard from you and from what I've seen you're between a warrior and a medical witch. You pick up new weapons like its nothing and it's easy for you to make a spell to cure someone. Once we know our specialty, we are given classes on how to conceal our magic from the real world and soon after we master concealing our abilities, we are allowed to integrate into the real world." Xavier finishes his explanation.
"Is that why I couldn't detect you on your first day of school and for almost a month after?" I ask. I had always wondered why it had taken a while to detect him.
"I didn't know what coven you belonged too, if you belonged to one of the dark covens, you wouldn't be here now."
"So what's your specialty?"
"This is the embarrassing part...I don't seem to have one. Like, everything is simple to me. Nothing is harder, it's all the same too me. I am the youngest person to ever develop his powers in my coven. This also means I was in the real world since I was in, what you would call, 7th grade. That's two years more than anyone else. I thought it was the vampire in me that caused me to have equality, a balance in my powers, but then I met you and Nikki and you have specialties too."
"It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You are special to me." I tell him before getting out of the car. I can believe our conversation took over an hour.
Jace carries a limp Nikki into his house. Before he's even halfway to the door, Alex and Marcus are out the door.
"What happened?" Alex demands to know.
"She had some sort of fit." I say not wanting to go into the long winded explanation of it.
That night we take turns staying with her. I wouldn't have left her side, but Xavier dragged me out of the room so that I could get some sleep. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was off into La La Land.
********DREAM********
I'm walking down a long winding road. I can't see the end of it. Feeling a dark presence behind me, I start to jog. Looking back, I see a dark figure following me. I turn back around and start to run. I can't hear any footsteps but I still feel the presence. It's like a scene from a horror movie. The ones where the girl is running and running and can't seem to get anywhere and the person chasing them gets closer and closer.
Out of nowhere a figure appears in the middle of the road. I stop trapped between both figures. The one behind me catches up and the darkness radiating from the creature overwhelms me. The figure in front of me radiates sunshine, love, peace, and everything else that you can think of that's associated with goodness.
"Leave this poor girl alone, she has done nothing to you. You have no claim over her!" The white figure says, but it sounds weird. It takes me a moment that she isn't speaking out loud, she's speaking in our heads.
"You have no right over her either." The dark force speaks in the same way the white one does. The darkness floats closer to me and the white figure floats over me, much like a ghost would, to stand between me and darkness.
"Stop, please just stop and tell me what's going on." I interrupt their stare down.
"You'll have to choose Alexandra. Darkness or light, good or evil, you'll have to choose. The Goddess demands so. You are the future. Combined with with Nicole, you will be the next generation of rulers. Choose wisely, Alexandra." The Light says.
"How long do I have?" By now I know it's not just a dream, it's a vision. Both figures have started to fade.
"You have until your 20th birthday. Fulfill your destiny or die!" The Darkness crackled before Dark and Light both faded and I found myself coming back to consciousness.
*********DREAM OVER*******
I wake with a fit, waking Xavier, who was laying next to me, in the process. I look down and notice that I wasn't laying in the bed, I was floating above the bed. I gasp and fall to the floor with a thud.
"Lexi! What happened?" Xavier sounds worried but I barely hear him. I can hear the Darknesses warning and the Lightness words still ringing in my ear. I'll have to tell Nikki and Xavier but I won't tell them about the dying-at-20-if-I-don't-decide-between-Good-and-Evil detail. We still have three and a half years to figure this out.
I rush to Nikki's room and throw open the door without knocking. It was a mistake. Nikki and Jace are lip locking, making me feel awkward for catching them.
"Am I interrupting something?" I ask.
Jace shakes his head and leaves the room.
"Nicole, you sacred us all shitless yesterday!" I exclaim.
"Lexi, didn't Xavier tell you?" She asks.
"Tell me what?"
"Alexandra, you've been asleep for five days since I woke up. You've been under for a week and a half."
