We walked through the food court for the third time today and this time, made it through without eating all the free samples. Those people are forgetful. Melanie and Darren were walking ahead of me with my mom walking ahead of them with Emily. Melanie and Darren both seemed to be involved in a heated discussion debating whether or not Prom is really that great. Melanie thought it was amazing and kept running a hand through her hair messing up her auburn locks while Darren kept rubbing the back of his neck and shrugging.

Something in the bushes to my left rustled caching my attention. The others were walking ahead to the car where my dad and Joshua were waiting for us. Against my better judgement, if I even have any, I went over to the bushes kneeling down so I could see better. I saw something silvery in the bushes. Sticking my hand in and pulling it out, I saw it was a steak. One of those metal steaks you use to hold down your tent when you're camping. On the top was a small button in the center of a circular ring of dots. It almost looked like a flashlight. Weird. I tossed it back into the bushes and ran to catch up with Melanie and Darren trying to shake the creepy feeling I was getting. They hadn't noticed I was gone. Good, I guess.

Suddenly, something something covered my mouth. My eyes went wide and I swung my arms around trying to squirm away from the person. A arm wrapped around my waist, I threw my bag down on the floor trying to make some noise. One of the other bags I had had jewelry in it, I used that to attack the person who was holding me. Melanie and Darren were racing towards me. Melanie pried me from the grasp of whoever had been holding me while Darren tackled him. The man who had been holding me was wrestling with Darren. The man pulled out a knife and Melanie screamed. Before I could do anything, Darren had a knife in his left shoulder. Darren howled in pain.

The man got off of Darren and started heading towards us. I turned around and ran for my mom and Emily. Emily was on the floor crying while my mom stood there horrified. In one sweeping motion, I scooped up Emily and started pulling my mom towards the car.

"DAD! JOSHUA! DAD!"I screamed at the top of my lungs.

I heard two car doors opening and slamming closed right before I saw my dad and Joshua speeding around the back of a car. They came speeding towards us. They ran past us and headed straight for Melanie who was fighting the man who had stabbed Darren. I didn't see what happened because I was running towards the car with my mom in tow. Once Emily was in her seat, I was coasting on adrenaline not thinking. Turning the key in the ignition, I started the car. I only knew how to drive sorta well, being a driver was terrifying but not as terrifying as Darren being stabbed. My mom was sitting next to Emily while I pulled out of the spot we were parked in and waited for the others. Looking in the rear view mirror, I saw my dad and Joshua take down the man. Joshua had the man with his arm pinned behind his back and was pushing him towards the car. I saw my dad bend down and pick up Darren with Melanie limping behind him before Joshua opened up the trunk and shoved the man in.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"I asked Joshua surprising myself at how steady and almost angry my voice was.

Joshua seemed surprised too, "This is a Hunter, we need him."

I turned around in my seat and let Joshua throw him into the trunk and handcuff his hands behind his back. My dad climbed into the row behind my mom and Emily, the one right before the trunk that held the man. My dad laid Darren down on the seats, Darren was groaning softly. He was awake and clearly in pain. Darren held his right shoulder gingerly, his nails were abnormally long and sharp, and although I couldn't see them, they were probably glowing. Darren cried out in pain, the blade was still sticking out of his shoulder. Blood was seeping through his shirt and was starting to get onto the seat.

Melanie and Joshua got into their seats, my dad not leaving Darren's side. I stepped on the accelerator and sped out of the parking lot. No one had to tell me that we were going to the pack doctor. It took forever, Joshua called the doctor while we were driving. She said she was going to meet us halfway. When we approached the halfway point, she was already there. We got out of the car, the doctor started treating Darren immediately.

"You were right, Alpha, it was laced with wolfsbane."she said grimly taking out some supplies.

We watched in silence, as the doctor cut the shirt open around Darren's wound. She gave him some morphine. As soon as she was sure that Darren couldn't feel anything, she pulled the knife out and started treating it with some herbs and things that came out of her Mary Poppins bag of supplies. Finally, she started stitching the wound closed. I've never been a weak stomach kind of person. I've been able to watch the sex ed videos they show in school and still be able to eat afterwards so watching the doctor stitch up Darren's wound, I didn't feel sick. Melanie did though, she looked almost green. I put my arm around Melanie in an attempt to comfort her, she started crying on my shoulder. After a while, the doctor stood up and had Joshua and my dad put him in the car she had come in.

"I'll meet you back at the hospital, Alpha,"the doctor said giving a curt nod.

We got back in the car. Emily had fallen asleep in the car with my mom. I climbed into the back next to my mom and laid back sighing. My dad and Melanie climbed into the front of the car. My dad drove us to the hospital in silence. When we got to the hospital, Melanie and my dad were shown to Darren leaving me, my mom, and Emily in the waiting room. We were there for what seemed like forever. Joshua had driven the man away, leaving us at the hospital. For a while, I considered just walking back but didn't feel like it. Almost an hour into waiting I realized I'd left my stuff at the mall. Great, just fantastic. Fan-freaking-tastic. Finally, my dad and Melanie came out of Darren's room. Melanie's eyes were red and she looked as tired as I felt.

"Melanie is going to stay with us tonight,"my dad told me.

"Alright,"my mom said yawning.

"Whatever, can we just go home?"I asked.

"Let's go,"my dad said.

There was another car waiting for us when we got outside. We drove back home in silence besides Emily's light snoring. I'm pretty sure we all envied her at that moment. Sometimes, I wish I was five again. So I could just do whatever I wanted and people wouldn't think twice about it because I would be five. How awesome would that be? The driver pulled up to the house. We got out and all made our way up the steps and into the mansion. Melanie was going to stay in my room, we didn't say anything to each other, but neither of us wanted to spend the night alone. As we were walking to my bedroom Melanie smiled to herself.

"What?"I asked relieved she was smiling.

"Nothing it's just..."her voice trailed off.

"It's just what?"I asked opening my door and letting her into my room.

"Back at the hospital, that's the first time I've ever heard you call the Pack House 'home'." she said her smile widening.

I hadn't even noticed. I smiled sheepishly back at her. Later that night, when Melanie was sleeping soundly on the mattress I'd set up for her next to my bed, I really did feel at home.

A/N

Awww! Sweet, anyways, they caught themselves a Hunter! Woo! So, how did you like it? Yes? No? I hope you did. Also, check out my other book, it's called Fairytale Saviors. Here's the description:

Me and my brothers are the ones that save the day. You've all heard the stories. Damsel in distress, usually a princess or some other girl of important descent, Prince or some other "manly man" of important descent saves her from some kind of easily overcome obstacle like a dragon or something and they run off into the sunset all gooey and romantic. Our job is to do what the Princes or other manly men of important descent can't do. Save their girls and make it seem like the Prince did it instead of us. We are the Fairytale Saviors.

The description is kinda lame, but trust me, it gets better! Please, please, please check it out and let me know what you think! Comment any thoughts, suggestions, corrections, vote, and enjoy!
