I lashed out and tried to kick Krista but she took a step back and was out of range leaving me hopelessly kicking out at her, missing by at least a foot. Krista chuckled and smiled wickedly at me.

"You're braver than the last time I saw you." she said.

"You're more homicidal than the last time I saw you." I snapped back.

Krista laughed, "Definitely braver."

She came a step closer. I wanted to punch her in the face. With a chair. Just punch her square in the face with a metal chair. It was this thought, I was focusing on besides the fact that Krista had lied to me her entire life. We had known each other since we were in kindergarten, I knew everything about her, and she lied. She lied about her entire life. Geez, stop thinking about this. Thinking about hitting her in the face with a chair was keeping me from having another panic attack.

"Those can't be comfortable." Krista said teasingly.

As if on cue, the pain from the cuffs I'd been ignoring flamed up again and causing me cringe. Pulling on the cuffs to kick Krista hadn't helped. The cuffs pinched and squeezed my wrists painfully, it hurt to move.

"Are you going to release me?" I asked holding up my wrists gingerly.

Krista shook her head, "No,"

She smirked and closed the door that had been hanging open. She leaned her back against the door and looked at us both. She walked over to Reed and kicked him. Reed grunted in pain and his breath became more labored.

"Stop!" I cried straining against the cuff earning me another shock of pain shooting through my arms.

Krista looked back and forth between me and Reed for a second then smiled, "You two are mates. Oh, isn't this delicious?" she turned to Reed. "Not only are you the future alpha of their rival pack, you're also mated to a human."

Krista let out a sharp laugh.

"Why are you doing this, Krista?" I asked her.

"I'm not doing anything. I'm just trying to get back the person you kidnapped from us." she said walking towards me again and away from Reed.

"He tried to kill us," I hissed.

"He tried to kill a monster." Krista snapped back.

She took a few steps closer to me and shook her head disapprovingly.

"You know, I used to think of you as a friend. My family trusted you and you turned out to be filthy dogs." she spat.

She took another step closer.

"You disgust me." she said leaning in so she was in my face.

She started to turn away and I took my chance. I stood up and wrapped the chain between my wrists around her throat. She gasped in surprise and I pulled back. Hard. She clawed at my hands leaving streaks of blood. Ignoring the pain, I pulled back harder before I let loose just a tiny bit.

"Get us out of here." I hissed in her ear.

"Can't do that." she choked sarcastically.

I yanked back again and loosened my grip, "Can you heal Reed?"

She stayed silent.

"So you can heal him."

She didn't say anything, I yanked back on the chain again.

"Yes! Yes! I can heal him." she wheezed.

I loosened the grip I had on her neck a tiny bit so she could breathe, "Unchain me."

"No."

I gave her a hard yank and held it there for a couple of seconds before releasing her.

"Fine," she grunted holding up a key.

Taking a deep breath, I held the grip on Krista's neck, and unlocked my left cuff. Then, I held the chains together at the nape of her neck. I had an idea, I leaned back to where the chain was attached to the wall. I let go of Krista's neck and cuffed her left as she fell to the ground and started coughing.

"Heal him," I growled at Krista how was clutching her neck with her free hand.

After a couple of seconds of her getting her breathing back to normal, she stood and looked down at her wrist, "Damn, these do hurt."

I pulled on the wrist hoping it would cause her more discomfort than it was causing me. My left wrist ached. There were red marks and cuts where the cuffs were around my wrist. I wanted to rub my wrist until it stopped hurting so much but if I did Krista would only have one of her hands. Krista grunted and pulled me over to Reed. Immediately, I bent down beside him and started stroking his hair that was matted down against his forehead with sweat and some blood.

"What happened?" I whispered half asking Krista and half asking Reed.

Reed only answered with pressing his face closer to my hand as I started stroking his cheek with my thumb.

"He decided to wolf out and we took him down." Krista said looking over his injured left leg.

His left leg had a nasty gash that was as long as his calf. He had bruises all over his body and cuts on his face. Cringing at the thought of them 'taking him down', I focused on reassuring Reed whose eyes were still closed. Krista pulled out something from her pocket. It was a small sewing kit with a tiny needle in it. The needle was filled with clear liquid. She pulled out the needle and jabbed it into Reed's leg. Reed winced and I winced. Krista glared at me then returned to Reed. She took out the needle and started sewing up his leg. Reed's eyes shot open and he growled at Krista.

"It's okay, she's helping." I said sending Krista a warning glare.

"Yeah, I always wanted to be a vet." Krista mumbled.

Reed growled again. I stroked his cheek and he rested his head back down. After a while of nothing but the sound of Krista sewing Reed's wound up, she cut the thread and sat back.

"Done."

"Great," Reed said sitting up and gripping Krista's throat, "Now you can lead us out of here."

"What is with you guys and choking?" Krista said in between wheezing.

"What is with you guys and darts filled with poison?" I shot back at her.

We stood up and Krista grunted, "Fine."

She opened the door and started leading us down the hallway.
