Finally, I shuffled into my last class of the day. However, it was PE so it wasn't really a relief or anything. But at least it didn't require me using my brain. When Melanie had taken me to the office to call my dad so he could come pick me up, he said no. The nurse told me I'd had a panic attack so that was great. Now, all I had to do was to not do anything too excitable and for the next forty five minutes and I would be fine.

It was almost slightly amusing when Blake and Darren almost walked into the girls' locker room with me. As I was stepping in Blake and Darren started to follow then Melanie had whirled around and said, "Where do you think you're going?"

I think they had gotten into the rhythm of just following me everywhere I go, so they didn't even notice where they were going anymore. They just looked at each other and I bit back a smile.

Melanie kept walking in, "Perverts."she had muttered underneath her breath.

It was weird. Only fifty minutes ago I'd had a panic attack, caused by the realization that I was surrounded by werewolves. Now, they seemed almost...human. Like real people. It was the strangest feeling. I felt like a scientist observing monkeys or dolphins or something and realizing that they have emotions too. Realizing that we have something in common.

Inside the girls' locker room we all got our PE clothes. The shorts reached my knees, and were blue and the gray shirt they gave me had my name scrawled on it and it smelled like it had never been washed. We then, got out locker assignments. Melanie's was, of course, right next to mine. We opened our lockers. She opened mine first, naturally, and I put my PE clothes in once she gave me the all clear.

The PE teachers ordered us outside in the gym. We all sat down on the black top and I inhaled the fresh air. In front of us, I could see the football field. Basketball hoops sprouted up out of the ground every couple of feet, surrounding the black top up until it reached the separation point between the field and the blacktop. There were numbers on the ground. We all sat down on them in a random order. Melanie, Darren, and Blake surrounding me.

The teachers talked about the kind of activities they would offer in PE over the year. All their expectations. She kept droning on and on. I was just happy to be able to breathe again. I liked the warmth of the sun on my back. It warmed me up and calmed me down.

"Any volunteers?"the teacher asked, her voice echoing around the open space.

A kid raised his hand, "I would Ms. J,"

"Me too,"said another guy.

"Well, come on up,"Ms. J said.

They both stood up facing each other on either side of Ms. J the PE teacher.

"What are they doing?"I whispered to Melanie.

"You'll see,"she whispered back not tearing her eyes away from the two boys.

They both bent their knees and started breathing heavily.

"Ready!"Ms. J yelled.

What are they about to do? I thought.

"SET!"

Why do they look like they're going to attack each other?

"GO!!"

The boy on the left closed his eyes, took in a deep breath, and then opened his eyes again. They were glowing, bright yellow. Then he roared. Or howled. It sounded like a gargantuan lion had just stepped on a lego, or something. I almost moved to cover my ears but it felt like the noise coming out of his mouth was pinning my arms down.

After what seemed like an eternity, he stopped and stood up right, and proudly crossed his arms over his chest waiting for praise from Ms. J. She looked at the other boy and nodded.
